B26+ Wing Mate Safety Glasses Side Shields- Fits Small to Medium Eyeglasses (1 Pair)

My original review stands as written. I want to add that after 5 years using my safety glasses once a week at both indoor and outdoor ranges, for between an hour and two hours each time, the one side piece broke. Not the rubber band: The plastic itself. I just ordered another pair. I use a soft glasses case but it is still not large enough. If I had a really large case the side pieces might have lasted "forever." Hree here is my original review: These are far superior to the side pieces which came with my safety glasses, and which broke after some usage. They provide excellent side protection for the eyes. I use them for shooting, both indoors and outdoors. I also always wear a baseball cap with the brim almost touching the top of my glasses to provide top protection in addition to the front and side protection that the safety glasses and these shields provide. They were easy to install on the glasses but I can see how the rubber band could come loose or break if you put them on and off regularly. To take care of this possibility I put them on my glasses and leave them there permanently. This provides a slight challenge for storing between uses because you can fold the side arms of the glasses frames in, but the shields stay in place. A larger than normal soft glasses case will hold them if you insert them carefully. Glasses which are square framed or almost square will fit these shields well. Round or oval glasses will not. I got the size small and they JUST fit my medium metal frames. I ordered one pair to see how they work. They work! I don't think I'll need another pair for a very long time unless I get careless with where and how I store the glasses when not using them.

At my work it is now required that we wear protective eye wear all the time. These work great and fit snugly. There are a few things you need to know before making your purchase. First, they work well with thin "temples" which is what they call the arm piece that extend back to your ear. If you have thick plastic temples (arm pieces) then this product will not work for you. Second, they really are best suited for small to medium size lens glasses. I have a larger pair of prescription sunglasses that these will not fit, but they do fit my regular glasses just fine. Third, it was confusing at first how to attach them. The included instructions are very brief. As far as how to attach them, each one has an "O" ring, basically a small, sturdy, black elastic band. You loop your arm piece through the O ring. Then you pull out the O ring from the outside and stretch it to the back of the shield, where there is a small tab that you latch onto. The end result is they are snug and secure. (See images) They seem a little harder to remove then put on in the first place because the rubber O ring is stretched tight and you've got to unhook it from the tab at the back of the shields. It's hard to get hold of when they are in place and tight. Unlike a similar set of side shields that I am replacing, these are made of hard plastic, which seem to fit my glasses better. Some people have suggested that the black O ring will not last long. I read one review where the person said it broke the first time he used them. Others have said the shields "won't stay on and are junk." I suspect these negative reviews are because those people did not know how to attach them as above described. It remains to be seen, if over time, the rubber O ring will last, but it does seem sturdy. I will purchase this product again in the future. EDIT: Some time has passed since my purchase. The O ring does break sometimes. However, I will reorder them.

It's not strictly universal, because it clearly won't fit every type of glasses, but it does fit a reasonably wide range. The glasses need to approximate the shape shown in the picture. The arms of the glasses should not be wider than 0.4 centimeters, and the sides of the lens need to be curved. The product insert says that the top and bottom can be squeezed together or pulled apart to accommodate taller or shorter lenses, but this appears to be through bending the plastic at a weak point running down the middle. They fit my glasses just fine already, so I was not willing to play around with bending it. The shields are attached with an o-ring (basically a rubber band, but more durable) that threads through to the outside. You pull it tight and then snap it onto a post at the back. Someone on here commented that tweezers were needed to install and remove the shields, and I imagined this was written by an old person with fat fingers, until I tried taking them off of my own glasses. The o-ring does slip snugly into a couple of grooves, and though I have successfully removed them and installed them with just my fingers, I think it's safe to say that this is not something that anyone should expect to be able to do. The solution was simple enough, though. A metal dental pick with a fine point is enough to easily set and remove the o-ring in seconds. The o-ring is definitely going to be the first thing that breaks, but o-rings seem to be cheap and easily replaced. Over-all, I'm quite pleased with them. They look and feel much better than the goggles that I would have had to wear, otherwise. I showed them to my boss, and she's thinking of getting the two different sizes to have available, as needed. I work in an area that requires eye protection, technically, but does not really present many actual dangers.

This item does not come with instructions on how to attached to glasses. I figured out how to attach to my glasses but the shields didn't really fit all that well and were loose. Fortunately I ordered another pair of side shields from a different company and those fit a lot better. I'd recommend H.L Bouton slip-on side shields. These are easier to fit to your glasses and they come with instructions. They are made of a flexible plastic.

If you're just putting these things on for an hour or so, don't bother. There's better options out there. These aren't something you fold up and put away on your glasses. If you're actually going to wear these things for 4 - 8 hours out of your day, these are worth your time. I work with construction materials where side-shields are required. These fit the bill nicely. They're not uncomfortable at all and after a while, you forget they're on. Many is the time I've made the commute back home with them on while forgetting they're on. They're gloriously OSHA compliant, and I'm sure there's some bulls*** ASTM out there that circle-jerks this requirement. (If you're working in a lab, this applies to you too! :D ) Don't expect a welding shield, but if concrete is splatting everywhere these will have you pretty much covered. (If you need more protection, and aren't sure if these will work for you, then you already know better...) I'm not sure what the complaints are about difficulty with getting them on and off. If you grab the elastic by the side and stretch from there rather from the top where it's attached, it's magically simple and easy to detach. (This will make sense when you see them.) This isn't rocket science. I pop them on and off daily. I have yet to have any issues. These work ONLY with round lens/frame glasses. For you military folk out there, these flawlessly fit those wire black-framed glasses issued out to every branch ever. I should know, because that what I wear them with.

Perfect fit for my surgitel loupes!!

I have three pairs of glasses, and I do some moonlighting work in a cleanroom which requires every person to wear safety glasses, regardless of what work he/she is doing. Unfortunately, my work usually doesn't really require safety glasses, so the rule is just an inconvenience. I was hoping to be able to just clip these on to whichever pair of glasses I happen to be wearing to satisfy the safety gestapo at work. Even though all three pairs of my glasses fall within the 30-40mm height range that these should fit on, two of them don't fit very well. So, I am just sacrificing my one pair of glasses that do work with these shields, and leaving them at my side job all the time. I will write details about fitment below, but the only other reason I rated them three stars is that there are small gaps on the front where the mounting o-ring goes through. I don't think that will affect the usefulness of these shields much, but that might be something that the safety gestapo will not like. Time will tell. Now, on to the fitment details... One of the pair of glasses which don't fit these shields are thick black plastic frames, and I think the frame is too thick for these shields because it pushes the shields out to the side, creating a small (perhaps 2mm) gap at each side. The gap is too obvious to try to get away with it. The other pair that doesn't fit are a pair of wire half-frame glasses, which I think are actually too small for these shields because they leave a gap at the top and bottom, and the shields can wiggle around without fitting snugly. That top and bottom gap is also too obvious to try and use the shields on those half-frame glasses. The pair that does fit is a pair of wire frame glasses which look just like the ones in the product picture here. They are actually polycarbonate lens glasses that used to have safety shields riveted to the sides, so as an added bonus, I really will be wearing actual safety glasses, even if I don't need them.

They was perfect. As advertised. Easily fits on to almost any eye wear and looks a damn sight better than the nerd looking, over the eyeglass's protection huge googles.
