This grinder gives a very consistent grind where the pepper grinds are all the same size!
I have always used inexpensive grinders ($15-$25) and got just what I paid for. They use plastic or ceramics for the grinding process and I never could get a consistent grind. When you turn the knob to tighten it for a finer grind, it turned the grinder as well, and just didn’t work. However, with the Peugeot, I get a very consistent grind (All the same size) and there are 6 distinctive settings using a slider process that actually works and is easy to use! I have it at 3 and get a very consistent grind that is pretty fine. It grinds very well and the grind is perfect for me, personally. I highly recommend this grinder, it’s well worth the $34.95 I paid.

France Might Not Win Wars, But They Crushed It On The Pepper Mill Front Like the Peppercorn That The Competition Truly Is
Oh. My. God. This thing is MAGNIFICENT. I pulled it from the box with great trepidation because I bought another brand, the Trudeau 071322 Excalibur, and it had big flaws and a rusty screw on the grinding mechanism with the chrome plating worn off of the mechanism, and the replacement was really rusted over. Go over there and see the photos, I'm not kidding. After two of those Trudeau demo units/factory rejects, I was over it and decided to spend twice the money and get this Peugeot, hoping they would do it right and give me a flawless product. They did. I liked the darker chocolate color, but reasoned that with this natural color Peugeot, they couldn't hide any flaws behind paint or stain. Wise move, if I don't say so myself. This thing looks better in your hand than in the photo. Beautiful. Where the Trudeau had rough turnings with more raspy cross-grain grooves turned on lathes with dull tools and were lacking enough sanding and stain, this Peugeot has totally smooth grooves and beads, and was sanded to a very fine and smooth finish. Just beautiful. Somebody there really takes great pride in his work. I looked underneath at the grinder mechanism and it was spotless and new, unlike the trash that was dumped on me twice by the people at Trudeau. It's hard not to just caress this thing in your hands like a beautiful woman. The curves...the smoothness...the attention to detail. Who would think that a pepper mill could be downright sexy? I'll have to see if this thing can be modified with a Fleshlight insert...but I digress. Since the teeth of the mill draw the peppercorns down into the mechanism as you turn the top clockwise, I figured it goes to reason that the reverse would be true. The first thing I wanted to do is see how finely it would grind. I thought that somebody might have ground some pepper in it before, and I wanted all of the large particles out of the grinding mechanism so it would be at minimum tolerances for the level 1 grinding. SO...I turned the pepper mill upside down, then turned the top counterclockwise, pulling any bits of pepper out of the mechanism to the inside of the storage compartment! This cleared the mechanism of all peppercorn pieces. Then I turned it right side up again. With it set on level 1, I commenced to grinding, and it made a really nice and fine powder. Not like flour or anything, but a very nice fine grind. What is that I smell wafting up to my nares? I then leaned close and gently sniffed the pepper aroma. Aaaaaaahhh...I'm in love. Then it was time to max out the size and see what that looked like. Nice, decent sized pieces, but not so big as to be obnoxious. I could see putting these on a steak and pounding them into the meat. I love the markings on the wood to select the grind size, and the Peugeot logo. They're tastefully applied and in a nicely contrasting brown color, not stark black. This natural wood is really beautiful and flawless, I could not be happier. I've never held a nicer pepper mill in my hands. These Peugeot boys have this s*** down. If you want a big wooden peppermill that looks great and puts out the perfect grind, look no further. I'm just giddy about it. People at work have been laughing at my excitement about a pepper mill. They don't understand. I'm not going to make them understand by transporting my treasured Peugeot to work, where some jackhole might drop it on a concrete floor or lose the nut off the top. They can keep their grubby mitts off of my U'Select. They can't believe I spent $90 on a pepper mill, but I'm the kind of guy who feels this way: if you're going to buy something you have to live with, make it quality. Spend the extra bucks to get great performance and value. It only hurts when you lay down the money. From then on, you're in paradise every time you use it. I also bought an OXO, which is a great little grinder, for guests, but they better keep their stinkin' hooks off of my Peugeot Paris U'Select, or they'll draw back nubs! I never thought I'd say something good about France, but Peugeot earned it! Five stars!!! UPDATE: I ate some fish, shrimp and basmati rice two nights ago, and it just didn't taste as good as the night before. Then it came to me at about 3:30 in the morning as I woke up from a dead sleep: somehow I forgot to use the Peugeot Paris U'Select to apply some pepper! I was pissed off the rest of the night and the next day!!! You know, when I'm about to die and somebody asks if I have any regrets, that will be the one.

Buy it for life
This grinder is truly perfect. It feels great in your hand, is exceptionally easy to use and adjust, and you get the exact size grind that you want. There is no better salt/pepper grinder out there. This is a buy it for life item.

Ain't Nothing Like The Real thing!
I have not used the grinder yet. I am wondering how I received this rather expensive (for the smaller size) PEUGEOT PEPPER GRINDER (made in France) in literally less than 24 hrs. It did not come packaged in a box. It came to me in a plastic bag. It also looks CHEAP! I think Amazon is pulling the wool over my eyes. A few weeks ago, I ordered the sticky tab you use to affix picture frames to the wall. Instead of getting a brand name I was sent a generic sticky tab that was almost impossible to unstick in order to place the framed picture on the wall ... it fell off the wall in about an hour. (It appeared as though the sticky tab was manufactured by Amazon! So, does Amazon stock up on these expensive pepper grinders, place them in cheap plastic bags an drop them off in less than 24 hrs.? I am sending this back to Amazon.! That's my story, and I am sticking to it! (Something fishy is going on in the Amazon warehouses) meanjean

Grinds pepper at lots of granularity
No complaints about the pepper mill. It grinds pepper at a lot of different granularity, from very fine to very coarse. It tastes way better than pre ground pepper from the store (my pre ground pepper had a bitter taste that I thought was just pepper until I tried side by side with this one). It is also a step up from the pepper you buy at the store with built in plastic grinders because you choose your coarseness and it looks decent on the table. One note—I think the product description said it came with some peppercorns shipped in it, but mine did not.

Works well, classic looks, but...
As above, it looks for real, and definitely grinds pepper. The adjustment range is from subatomic to medium/coarse, and at least 80% of the range results in some grade of fine dust. This probably accounts for the reviews calling it "slow." Normal table pepper is about the second to last setting. The settings are continuous, so you have infinite control. The adjustment ring is not wood, but a pressboard material of low strength, which I discovered when it toppled from my countertop and creased/cracked. This doesn't seem to affect performance, nor is it getting worse, but it clearly won't endure much dropping. The combination of a heavy wood and metal construction, with the soft, exposed adjustment ring was not a great decision, and a little disappointing at the price. Another quibble is once you look inside, it's clear the mechanism is supported by a plastic frame. This was bought to replace a decades old mill with a crank mechanism, for which the crank handle finally fatigued until it broke, but it works perfectly still if one turns the nub. I might repair it, as it would serve multiple lifetimes. This mill simply will not, as the plastic will eventually wear and break. Overall, this is a good mill that will serve you well, but it probably won't be the last one you buy.

少し残念
存在感もあり、色の落ち着き感もありで大満足です。 ただ、底が高くなっているので、斜めに使用すると底の壁に胡椒がたまり、まとめて落ちることがあり、注意が必要でした。

Best pepper mill I’ve ever had.
This is the best pepper mill I have ever owned. I have been looking for a good pepper mill for a long time, I kept buying products that had a good look and feel but it was never matched with the performance. The pepper would come out unevenly or it would be hard to get a decent amount out. I decided to take a chance on this one as I’d heard something about Peugeot pepper mills before and I have been absolutely amazed by it. It looks fantastic and has a really high quality finish; but the best thing about this pepper mill is that it actually works. The grind size selector thing really makes a difference to the grind, which is useful for different situations. There is a level of quality about the product which makes it feel solid and very smooth to grind. I can’t recommend this mill enough!
