I don't know how I made it 60 years without this toolJust purchased a few weeks ago...and was so surprised that I could PUSH a heavy rack with a large hearth stone (not a lightweight) as well as a cast iron dutch oven full of dough with 1 hand (and this tool) and it went in evenly. I tend to burn myself (wrist) a lot in the PUSH heavy rack in and it slips off kilter and owy! I loved it so much I bought 2 more to give to my DIL's and teen granddaughters. My GD has been making bread since she was old enough to stand on a chair and knead dough...but now at 14...she is still afraid to deal with the oven rack with the stone on it. Solved the problem! Nana can stay in chair and let her do it all now.

Works well and is well-executed. The wood is edge-laminated in contrasting colors. Offset handle assures that the push-pull force doesn't cause the user to push down or pull up to move the rack. Smoothly rounded and splinter-free edges, sanded smooth all over. Pulling out an oven rack no longer requires finding a potholder and carelessly risking a burn. This will get a lot of use. Got another for my GF who has burned herself on my oven before. I didn't know any such thing existed until I saw the idea on the Cooks Illustrated website under 'essential tools'. Clearly a somewhat old idea (perhaps dating from the first oven with racks) that is still current. Naturally Amazon has several choices, as always. Well recommended.

This oven rack push/pull is very sturdy and I like the look & finish of the wood. I've used oven push/pulls in the past and have broke two--this one doesn't seem like it will break. However, the design is not quite right for my oven. I have a double oven with the small oven at the top and it is hard to grab the oven rack, either from the top or the bottom, with this particular design. I'll keep it until I find one that better suits my oven style and then give this one away.

If this is real ironwood, I'd be shocked. Much lighter and cheaper feel than my other ironwood products. But it's still useful for the intended purpose of opening and closing the oven.

This is a very sturdy tool. I had one for years that I used for my toaster oven until it broke. This one is sturdy enough to use in my full sized oven. A bargain.

Bought 2. 1 had a nasty sticker on it that came right off but the adhesive didn't. Used an old trick my Mom taught me, just apply some EVOO/cooking oil to the area, let it sit a minute(works great on appliances too), and then wipe/rub it off.I then went ahead a oiled their entire handle. YES, they absorbed all the oil as wood will and did not change the color.There is 8", from the pull rack slot, for your hand to grab. Comfortable even with these arthritic hands. I'm happy, no more white burn scars on my fair skin.

This is such a super handy little gadget. My girlfriend bought me one for Christmas. And forgot to get herself one!! I found this and immediately got it for her. it works wonderful. I am always burning my self as I reach in to pull the oven rack out. Not any more. And as far as pushing things bad in the oven make sure you have the puller in the center of the rack your pushing. It is great!

I just love it . . . and my sister thinks it's pretty cool too.

The only thing I would do is put a magnet on it so I could have it on the fridge

My wife loves it we will never burn a finger anymore pulls as it was made to do, and pushes as it was made to do
