I’ve had my Yale security system for almost 10 years now, and while the door/window contacts aren’t the prettiest things in the world ‘they’re a bit bulky and don’t fit perfectly on every frame’ they’ve proven to be absolutely rock-solid in reliability. The system itself is incredibly robust. The contacts respond instantaneously, and the alarm has never let me down. The PIR sensors can be a little over-sensitive at times, but that’s to be expected without more advanced and often more expensive presence detection. One of the best aspects is that the whole setup is completely wireless. It makes installation and repositioning around the house quick and hassle-free. With no cables Another thing I really appreciate is how seamlessly the Yale ecosystem integrates with Alexa and my wider smart home automations. For example, when I close the window at night, Alexa automatically closes the blinds too. Or when the humidity gets too high in the kitchen, it opens the blinds to remind me to air out the room. simple, clever, and really useful. Even after all these years, the system still feels modern thanks to that flexibility. I’ve had plenty of chances to switch brands, but I still feel safest sticking with Yale. Not perfect in looks, but it delivers where it matters, reliability, responsiveness, and peace of mind.

Love these sensors. They are so easy to install and don't false trigger (I have a sensor pointing at my front door and posted letters and newspapers through the door and the alarm did not activate). Used one sensor in my log cabin which is 140 meters away from the base unit and it works perfectly. So pleased that I can alarm my house, garage and log cabin from one alarm. I switch to part arm when home (so the alarm to the log cabin and garage is still activated). These sensors are amazing! Highly recommended!

I installed the Yale Smart Door/ Window Sensor in my outdoor storage box on my driveway. The sensor paired instantly with the Yale hub and appears in my HomeAssistant dashboard. This compact sensor is significantly smaller than Yale's standard door sensor while maintaining solid build quality.

I've installed over 10 of these contacts in my house, and the only downside I can think of is power consumption 🔋. If it's a window, you'll probably change the battery once every two years. If it's a high-traffic area door, like a main door in a busy household, then probably three times a year. The battery is a 2032 🔋.
