These are fine. Read my method.
I used upholstery fabric, and it would have wrecked my thumbs to try to do it according to the instructions. For the first step, getting the front of the button down into the fabric in the button form would have been impossible, but I used a hammer and a cylinder the right size to tap the blue pusher into place. For adding the button back, I folded the fabric inwards (easy), and applied some hot glue with a glue gun, then applied the back piece while the glue was still warm. Then I positioned the round end of an angled combination wrench over the back. The button loop was short enough relative to the wrench that I could just tap the back snugly into place with the hammer. I pushed the finished button out right away, and let the glue cure overnight. It took an hour to do thirty buttons, no problem.

Worked perfectly!
I had very bad memories of trying to cover buttons years ago, but thought I'd give these a try. I was covering wicker chair cushions with upholstery fabric and after reading the reviews was concerned that it would be too heavy and require hot glue to keep the buttons closed. I followed the excellent directions, using the pattern and the "tool" that came along with the set and found success! No hot glue required. I'm wondering if some of the reviewers did not use the pattern and just used judgment on the size. I speak from experience because I didn't think I needed to use that and ended up trimming the edges after having difficulty pressing the tool down to secure the button. Once I used the pattern - it worked perfectly! Cushions look great and the covered buttons really finished them nicely.

These buttons did the job!
I used these for a detachable train on an evening gown I designed. It was a last minute decision to use cover buttons and was extremely happy with the fast shipment. I used stretch charmeuse to match the lining. The fabric was lightweight, there was no shine through but the fabric was too thin to hold the back of the button on. I backed the fabric with some lightweight fusible interfacing before making the buttons. I needed 14 and every one came out beautifully. I didn't have to redo a single one.

Work perfectly for normal cotton cloth
These buttons arrived in great condition. The tops and covers were packaged separately, so no need to sort them out.I used simple cotton cloth. The seller includes a half circle template to use to cut the cloth to the correct size. This worked great and was the perfect size for these buttons. I had no problem with the buttons popping out. In fact, I made a mistake with one button and it took considerable tugging and lifting before the cover popped off. For the sake of satisfying my curiosity, I tried to use a thicker cloth, and the button was able to hold the thickness. I doubt that upholstery fabric will work, however. The tool is very simple. Although you could technically make your own from two perfectly sized bottle caps, one just slightly larger than the top and one slightly smaller than the cover, but with the negligible cost of the tool ($1 at time of my purchase) I suggest the inclusion of the tool with a first purchase. You can make subsequent purchases of the refill pack, which does not include the tool. The wire eye seems to hold well, even the previously mentioned tugging did not ruin the button. Obviously, I cannot yet speak as to the longevity of the buttons, but so far, they have been holding on my couch nicely.Overall, these buttons work very well and seem to be well designed.

Good product, great value, but choose wisely...
Made in the USA! 100 buttons for less than $20 is a great deal, but there's a few things to consider before buying them. Bought both the size 30 and 36 wire back kits with tools. The size 36 kit was missing the pusher part of the tool, and may have been previously opened and returned, as one of the bags was open. Didn't bother to count the parts, because many of the size 36 buttons may end up sitting in my stash, but buying 100 buttons was more economical than buying as many as I "think" I might need. Found that one of the metal thimbles in my collection was the right size to become the pusher part. If you're missing the silicone part, contact the company, because I couldn't imagine trying to put the buttons together without it.The template for the fabric circles needed was printed on a business card included in the package. The size 36 circle is too big to fit on a standard business card, so only half the circle is provided - but the template is there. They will probably only work on light or medium weight fashion fabric. I used them with 100% cotton, recycled bed sheet material, and it wasn't easy to get them to snap. It helps to carefully poke the edges of the circle neatly into the cavity, then put the back on, and push one side in and roll the pusher to get the other side in instead of trying to push the whole thing down in one shot. When they finally snapped together, the pressure stretches the fabric enough that the metal kinda shines through on close inspection.Would buy again.
