Q: Does the coarse sponge type clean better?

we found that the whole purpose of these sponges were to basically bring moisture relief and aid the patient in swallowing and preventing dry mouth. The patient appreciates the moisture more so than the cleaning. You can of course use it to clean but these sponges do more in caring for the patient. Concentrate more on the various ways you can bring relief than on how clean you can get their mouths. The coarse sponge may be too rough for them if they are too sensitive. Be aware of their needs. These are the things that they want more than what type of sponge you use.

Q: I use more expensive (sterile) swabs found on Amazon to clean the inner cannulas of my trachea tube ... are these also sterile??

The box only states for oral use. It does not say anything about being sterile. I use the swabs to brush my dogs teeth.

Q: Does the foam/sponge come off from the stick

I'm have used several out of the box and so far none of the foam has come off. There seems to be enough foam on the stick so it doesn't scratch with the stick.
