Very fun game. May family loves it, even my 10 year old daughter gets into it.

I got this game during the pandemic to add a little spice to an otherwise fairly repetitive "friends night in" game night. We were used to Catan and Monopoly, and this was a great addition.It's a fairly simple worker placement game where you got to balance your priorities between gathering food, growing your population, collecting materials, building structures, and researching technologies. At the start of the game, you have a fairly small population, but by the end, each person has a tribe with its own set of unique strengths. I personally go for the farming method if the "build a farm" area is not too crowded to save me from catching food later. My brother may go for the "love hut" method to get a lot of people quickly. Whereas another friend goes for hoarding resources and tools so he can build the best buildings.It's insanely gratifying to build up your civilization into something even better each turn. It can also be nerve-racking if you're really low on food and you need your people in the forest to catch a certain amount of food and you're not sure if they can do it.The dice rolling dynamic puts in a good amount of randomness to balance out an otherwise purely strategy-based game. I like how the game doesn't play out as competitive. Though there is a winner at the end of each game, as we go through we get so invested in helping each other and making our own tribes that it feels like more of a collaborative game.Excellent game and it's set to go on for just the right amount of time usually about 60-90 minutes for a three-person group.

We are casual gamers that love and very in-depth game occasionally. This game fits the mark to a more in-depth game where the mechanics can easily be recalled months down the line for replaying the games. Would recommend this anyone looking for a fun game that requires some planning with multiple strategies for winning and allows you to connect with friends. My 7 year old wanted to play but she does not have the focus to play this long of a game.

Stone Age is the perfect example of a worker placement game that is both accessable to those new in the hobby and deceptively complex enough for veteran board game players. The gameplay is simple and involves each player taking turns to contribute workers to various sections of the board in order to fulfill specific actions granted by each individual section, though the complexity comes in through the management and allocation of certain resources in order to drastically increase the total points you receive when constructing new buildings in your village and by investing in specific cards that will multiple your score in certain areas such as agriculture or making babies. Additionally, the randomized gameplay element of using dice in order to determine the success of your workers further heightens the enjoyment of the game by injecting it with a perfect amount of spontaneous moments of shock when two of your workers somehow manage to return to the village with roughly half of the lumber available in the forest or when five workers somehow only bring home one measly berry on their hunting expedition, which leaves your entire village on the brink of starvation. To make the effect even more cohesive within the atmosphere of the game, is that the game uses a leather cup and wooden dice, which, on the surface appears quite trivial, but, after countless hours of playtime, they prove to be absolutely essential to the tactile pleasure of playing Stone Age. This boardgame is a classic that stands up to the standards of today and is absolutely worth the time of any board game enthusiast, though games tend to last longer than expected even with built-in timers that bring about ending the game (purchasing the last building in a stack or purchasing the last development card in the deck).

This is an engaging boardgame that is fun for an amateur crowd that hasn’t played too many boardgames. Intermediates will also enjoy it. Those who are looking for a deep experience may want to go elsewhere, as this game doesn’t seem to have elements that are much too puzzling. The design is one where you can structure your winning strategy out of several available, but those several seem somewhat obvious compared to other deeper games.Still, fun for a quick boardgame night with friends when you aren’t trying something too complicated, and especially good for newcomers to the hobby. The theme is interesting as well.

Of the 100+ games in my collection this one is top 10. This is a replacement copy since my first was worn out.

this is a great gateway for worker placement. I do see people shifting to heavier games after mastering this, but I love watching my kids learning the strategy. we also are not into very deep fantasy games so this works great for us.
