Works fine on Macbook with USB-C
This thing is pretty clever. I mostly used it for the SDcard slot and the USB-A ports, but i took it on a trip with me and used it a bunch of times. The constructions seems pretty robust and it worked well.

This is a very impressive little guy
I am a fan of everything about this thing. For some time, I've been using my Note 8 phone as a desktop computer. I have a "Dex" thing that allows me to connect a monitor and keyboard/mouse to my phone, and for surfing the internet, watching netflix, even MS Word, I find it just as convenient as a desktop with a lot of bonuses (I can take my computer with me everywhere I go, I can use this in hotels, etc). Lately my job has tasked me with public speaking events where I present powerpoints. I have them all on my phone, and once in a while, there's technical trouble with the provided computer... people are genuinely pleased when I just pull out my phone and replace their computer with it.This device is very easily compared to the Dex system. Though it does not initiate the Dex desktop mode, and I have to use the normal Android interface, otherwise it's working perfectly. There was no setup. I plug my Note 8, my TV, and my wireless keyboard into my phone, and everything works immeadiately. In fact, I am typing this review with that exact setup. The USB 3 ports work fast (and are compatible with my presentation clicker), the included ethernet even works with my phone (useful for secure networks and no wifi in some workplaces), and this unit is much more slender than a dex. It's easily stored in a pocket with my phone, and I'll have it handy for all my presentations in the future. As a regular hub on a computer, it's working fine, and if you have a Chromebook lacking a lot of ports, this will definitely improve your experience. But for me, the power of this product is how it opens up our powerful cell phones, which are really quite good computers for almost anything most people do.It includes no cables, so most people will need at least an HDMI and ethernet cable to toss in their bag. Other than that, it's great. I noticed it's pretty warm to the touch when all ports are in use, but not beyond a temp where I worry it's going to damage itself. So far, it just works. It's cheaper than the Dex and in some respects it really has more features, though I wish I knew how to force the phone into that desktop mode. It's a great value.

The device works well, but the connector cable is fragile
We bought a previous model (VA-UC016), with the same feature set, in 2020. It worked pretty well, was fast and handled all the claimed functions with speed and quality. But if someone in your house likes to pull devices out by grasping the wire, or by pulling the device itself, instead of the reinforced connector, you too will be replacing it when it stops working.

No Setup Required - It Just Works
I recently purchased a new [Windows] laptop that has a Type C connector, and I selected this unit to get more USB ports as well as the card reader. So far it has worked out well for me and it seems to work as designed, and with no tweaks or software installation required. This little unit is small and it easily fits in a shirt pocket though the cord does impact the way it fits in said pocket. It’s a little bigger than a comb but smaller than a candy bar. It feels solid and well-made and so far has shown no signs of fatigue or weakness.I plugged it in and the fit was very snug so I had to work with it to get it plugged in properly. That’s actually a positive – it should not come unplugged unexpectedly when I move my laptop or plug something else into it, a problem I have had on occasion with MicroUSB devices.Windows recognized it immediately and it didn’t seem to need any extra device drivers or anything to make it work. It picked up the Ethernet interface as well as the USB hub, and that’s really all I would expect before plugging in anything else. The card reader works and I was able to read images off of the card I use in my camera through this device.I have not yet tried it under Linux but that’s coming shortly. I also have an Android tablet with a Type C port with which I will try this device as well.I have not yet tried the HDMI adapter. I have a use for it as my laptop actually does not have an HDMI port on-board and I’d like to attach it to my television to stream video.Would I add anything? I would have liked to see an integrated wireless adapter or a Bluetooth receiver built in, though I have those built in to my system and adding those to this unit would drive up the cost a bit. I would probably make the unit slightly larger too.So far, this device has been solid for me. It works right out of the box without any setup required – plug it in and you’re ready to go.

Stay away from this Vava brand.
Don't buy any product from Vava. Their product feature and support don't last. I bought wireless home security and dash cam from them that you can access using an app. They recently deleted the app in app store and removed all services for those products. So now I have a $200+ home security that I can't access. All they can say is 'sorry blah blah blah' like I picked up the money I used to buy their product from a tree.

Solves a big problem with my Macbook Pro
I use a Macbook Pro at work. I also have two monitors. That ties up the two display ports. Normally, that's not a problem. The WiFi is excellent. But there are some activities that require me to connect directly to the network. Up until now, I had to disconnect a monitor and connect a network adapter to the display port. The VAVA hub connects to the USB C port and then lets me connect the Ethernet. Works very well!I also use it to download photos from the SD card my camera uses. I haven't used the HDMI output yet, bit I have no doubt it will work perfectly too.The device is tiny! It easily fits into a shirt pocket. I love that about it. It also has a very useful feature: You can connect it to an Apple wall charger; you know, the kind you use for an iPhone or iPad. When it is connected, the USB ports in the hub can be used to charge connected devices. The laptop does't provide enough power to charge phones, iPads, etc. without the power boost.I think this is one of the coolest accessories I have ever tried. The icing on the cake is that I also use this hub with my Lenovo IdeaPad; You can't go wrong buying this!
