French Army Rubber Butt pad. Northridge International INC.

Unfortunately I did not follow the advice of other reviewers and installed the pad cold, on my MAS 49/56. It partially split at the seam but there is enough retention to remain on the rifle. Though it retracts from the look. In retrospect, I should have applied some heat to make it more supple.

Like another poster, mine came in good shape, but cracked while installing. These are true 1961 production butt pads, so that is not really the seller's fault - rubber does lose it's strength over time. However, I caught it early and was able to minimize the damage and thought I would share how. Put some soapy water (not too much, you don't want rot) or better yet some non-corrosive silicon lubricant around the inside of the mouth of the butt pad before slipping it on, and put the lower end of the pad on the stock first.

Failed for my purpose, just know the condition is nothing like the photo depicted. This came packaged nicely in a USPS flat rate box, when I opened it, the butt pad was very dirty and had rust all over it, I'm guessing they probably all are something similar from being stored for so many years. I used a little bit of dish soap and cleaned it off. Anyway, I read on multiple forums that this butt pad worked just fine on an rpk clubfoot stock. I held the butt pad up to it, and it looked like it was going to fit just fine and not even need to stretch hardly. Well, I put the butt pad on, and with little effort, it slipped right on and I felt happy as a clam. Well, I looked underneath and saw it split right in the center rubber seam on the bottom of the butt pad! I never read of that happened with anyone else that mentioned they fit fine, I'm not sure if the one I got was more decrepit than others, or if it had a small split that just opened right up, but it took little to no effort for it to tear right down the middle. That's just what happened to me. Just thought I would let anyone know that's interested in doing the same thing, because I was happy as can be when it came in, and now I feel I just threw the money down the toilet. Maybe I can get a lighter or something and melt it back together. I dunno, it sits on the buttstock now, but does come off with ease, too much ease. The clubfoot footprint is not even as tall as a standard ak buttstock, the clubfoot one is just shaped more like a rectangle and an ak is more oval shaped. Now I have to figure something out, maybe jimmy rig some string around it to keep it on? Boy, this sucks..(As a side note, this butt pad itself seems just fine, but I would probably try to find something newer where the rubber will allow it to conform to whatever you want to put it on if you're not specifically using it for a French MAS.

I received a 1962 production model and I don't know how it was stored but it was surprisingly supple and, with a little coaxing and the use of a shoehorn, not too difficult to install. It's correct for the rifle and makes the length of pull just long enough to where I can actually shoot the rifle without feeling like Gulliver in Lilliput. Even with shipping, this was the best price I found and am glad I did.

I left the butt pad out in the sun for approximately three hours on a 85° day. It only took about 20 seconds to install onto the butt stock of my MAS. I guess you could use a heat gun to loosen up the rubber.

Fits my MAS 49/56 perfectly. I'm tall so the added length of pull is very helpful.

Does exactly what it was described to do, was made from quality materials and fits very well; all at the best price -what more could you ask for. Hope they offer more hard to find parts soon.

A great fitting recoil pad for your rifle. It fit on my Mosin and Arisaka and the added length is better fit for me since I am over 6 foot tall.
