I am SO glad I purchase this controller. It's only been a few days and it's already making my job easier with editing. I use DaVinci Resolve, Final Cut Pro X, Affinity Designer and Affinity photo having this to with all of my programmed shortcuts is amazing. I've also created all of the shortcuts for the websites I frequent the most for my work. I hate using this expression because so many companies and individuals say it, but this piece of equipment is a game changer and I recommend it to anyone who's a creator.

The UI can be odd. Instead of changing program configuration on the deck, it opens a wheel on your desktop. Other than wanting more presets it works great.

After weeks trying this out, nothing stood out and nothing is horrible. Build quality is on par with the price point and things more or less work they way they should. With all that said, it simply means, imho, this is just an average unit. There are other options depending on your needs but if you just need an average controller, I guess you can keep this as an option. As you can see, I'm not impressed by this at all, otoh, nothing failed so badly that I can't recc'd this product. Bottom line - it's meh but not junk

When I first received the package, I was pleasantly surprised with how professionally it was boxed (First image). The box was also fully sealed in plastic, so you can be assured you received a new unit. Connection was super easy, only takes one USB-C cable (included in box). In order to create and use custom profiles, you do need to have the Ulanzi Studio app installed and running. However, unlike some competing decks, there actually is a default profile loaded that works without the software. The no software profile is mainly just shortcuts like Win+Shift+S, but that's still a point over the competitors that just show a logo and tell you to install the software. As for the software itself, it is highly customizable with things like hotkeys, control media, OBS controls, and even soundboard. You can even have per app profiles that automatically launch when you open a specified app. The second picture I attached is my DaVinci Resolve profile that automatically opens with the app. When I close the app, it returns to the default profile. (Note: To make your deck automatically return to your default profile, go Settings > Profile > Default Profile (Or any other profile you want) > ✅ Set this file as the default profile) The Ulanzi Studio app also comes with a marketplace where you can download free icon packs and presets. In my second picture, all the icons I used are from the marketplace! If you aren't much of a graphic designer, you can still get a clean and consistent look with the custom icons. The very first thing I used this for was basic media controls, which worked perfectly. I could play, pause, and skip my music without having to tab over to the app. Next, I tried making profiles for my design apps like Affinity Photo. Did everything it needed to, but honestly I've gotten used enough to the software that I was just using my keybinds. What REALLY helped me, though, was the OBS implementation. The initial setup to get it connected to my OBS app and profiles was so amazingly easy that I honestly can't even remember how I did it. It was basically automatic after installing the Ulanzi software. Being able to record, pause, switch scenes, and switch profiles without having to use all those keybinds I can never remember and without tabbing over made recording greatly more efficient. I'm personally not a steamer, but if I was, a deck like this would be near necessary for me. So, why four stars and not five? Well, I have a few nitpicks. Nothing near deal breaking at all, but just enough to knock it down from the perfect score. - The buttons themselves are very responsive, and hotkeys respond with imperceptible delay. However, switching between profiles and folders has a noticeable delay, especially if it's been a couple minutes since you've pressed them. At most the delay is 1-2 seconds, but I do think it is important to note any delay on a device intended for productivity. - The 2U button with the clock on it is not stabilized (meaning if you press it on the left side, it only goes down on the left side) and has noticeably more resistance on press than the 1U buttons. The force I have to press the large button at is just enough to slightly shift the deck on my deskpad. - There is a screensaver option in settings. I neglected to include that in the earlier parts of the review because it feels a little useless. It only appears when your PC is locked, but NOT in sleep mode. This means you only see the screensaver during the few seconds it takes for you to log in to Windows. Overall, though, you can see that all the negative things I noted are minor. This device has been a great addition to my desk and is a more than worthy competitor to any other macropad/deck out there. It's intuitive, convenient, and honestly just aesthetically pleasing too.

The device arrived defective. One of the knobs (in this case, the center knob) doesn't work when turned. It only works when the button is pressed. I assigned the same multimedia function to all three knobs (volume), and it works perfectly on the other two. To further complicate matters, there's a problem with the shipping. The device arrived on April 29th, but according to Amazon, it still hasn't arrived and is expected to be delivered on May 6th. Because of this, I haven't been able to file a claim through the normal process. The truth is, I really want this device. I recently bought the Ulanzi D100H and found it to be an excellent and very useful device. That's why I decided to add the Ulanzi D200X, because I think together they make a perfect solution. To make matters worse, the whole Labor Day celebrations (which I see span several days) have hampered communication. I hope there's a solution soon.

I had preconceived notions. Thought these were reserved for or only useful to the video editor or audio engineer. Wow was I off base! Now that it has earned a spot on my desk it is a highly used tool. HUGELY adjustable to whatever use case you may have. I don't do a lot of video editing so have not yet set it up for DaVinci Resolve or iMovie .... yet. That is coming in the future. I use it every day for my nomal, productivity workflow. MacOS screen captures. Opening apps like the calculator, or Homeassistant, or anything else. And handling multimedia stuff is great, like volume, advancing tracks, etc. That is the beauty, it can be adapted to any workflow and app set. Had no idea these were such versitile additions to the desktop. The app for configuring the keyboard is quite intuitive and easy to use. You can pick navigation buttons and create addtitional levels of navigation. You are NOT likited to the 14 physical buttons. It is like a folder structure. You can move up and down through the structure if you chose to configure that way. And you can have a whole hierarchy of menus for each application you want to use it with. Really, a pretty amazing device. Love the 3 rotating knobs at the bottom along with 2 buttons. Great for a "mute" to get instant silence, and for a volume control. I'm convinced that I've only scratched the surface and this is going to be a highly valued tool that will only grow in value. Am I enthusiastic. Uhhhh, yeah. In a big way. I will find more and more uses for it. For a lot of purposes it is eaiser and quicker than poking through menues for the needed option or launching the right app. All the ports on it is also a big convenience. USBa, USBc, headphone jack, microSD and SD slots. Easy to plug in most common things one might need to connect. This is a VERY well thought out product. This is about my 3rd Ulanzi product and I am coming to recognize the quality design and engineering in their products. Those qualities are becoming a trend, and one I apprciate! Flawless build quality. Excellent fit and finish. Buttons are not too sensitive and are very responsive. Highly recommended. This is becoming a must-have tool. ---- This item was made available for testing and evaluation. My observations are independent and as objective as possible. I am most interested in well designed, well engineered, well built products and quality documentation. There has been no communication with the vendor or manufacturer.

I will point out i am not a video editor or creator. I picked this up to use more as a shortcut manager. I was able to configure it to open my commonly used apps so I can keep my PC desktop screen free of icons. The buttons were easy to configure for me using the Ulanzi software. I liked how the icon changed to apps icon just from linking the shortcut. Physically, the buttons have a soft feel when pressed. Another added bonus is the usb ports on the unit as well as the sd card reader on the side. Connecting it to the PC is done with just one cable and it even gets powered by that same cable so no need for a separate power cable.
