We often purchase used skis and snowboards locally to save money, as many people upgrade their equipment after only a few seasons. I purchased this repair kit specifically to address core shots and other base imperfections, and I have been extremely pleased with the results. The P-tex drops in big lumps and hardly hardens. It is very difficult to scrap it since it feels flexible,rubbery like some unsettled glue. It does not work as supposed. The flame goeas out very easily, I had to keep the gas ligher on to keep it burning, but after a big lump fell on my ski and was burning on the ski.I would not buy it again and probably will toss it into the garbage.

These are not drip candles. Too soft

This kit comes with several black base repair candles, base repair sanding sponges, and 2 wide plastic scrapers for wax. The set is a great value with all the contents. The base candles work well for repairs and the plastic scrapers are good quality. The sanding sponges help get a bit of a texture back in the base as well. The one reason for a star removal is that instead of 2 plastic scrapers there should be one metal scraper and one plastic. You need a metal scraper to gently shave the ptex repair candle plastic back flush with the base for a clean repair. Without the metal scraper you can’t really do that. So buy a metal scraper on addition to this kit and watch a couple videos on how to use the repair candles, it’s really pretty easy .
