I Love It
I had an old craftsman 4x36 belt sander that ran for over a decade. I eventually replaced it with a Harbor Freight sander - I thought it was a bargain but it was a piece of junk. Woefully underpowered, noisy and falling apart after a couple of years! This is a heavy sander. It seems well balanced and has plenty of power. The direct drive to the belt and sanding disk avoids the noise and power loss of an internal belt. And I see they have a graphite platten under the belt where you normally sand. This reduces friction between the back of the belt and the platten. Less power lost in the sander means more power available for actually sanding. This is quieter than my previous sander and much more powerful. By the way if you put a rubber pad under the sander base and under the belt support post it helps quiet the machine by reducing vibrations coupling to your bench or stand or table. This is not the cheapest option for a 4x36 belt and disk sander, but I am very satisfied with what I got for my money.

Its a stable, powerful, easy to use and worth the money tool!!
First time I read reviews about this tool I moved on and kept searching. However Ikept coming back to it and I realized a lot of the bad reviews werent really all that bad and most were over little things. So I decided to buy it and from day 1 I was impressed. Ive owned a lot of tools in my days and I also tried to stay away from the cheap crap because I didnt have time to be fixing bad tools all the time. Once again I bought me a winner and Im very pleased with it. The sander has weight to it so its stable. It feels solid when using either the belt or disk. The tables are easy to adjust and are straight and true. The dust ports work good and if your looking for a small hose go to Rockler and they have a hose with removable ends which are different in size. They are great for hand sanders. The hose fits perfect onto the ports without the use of an end and if you want to make it more permanent you can use a hose clamp. Overall I give this sander a 9 out of 10. Its powerful, heavy, but not too heavy, which keeps it stable. Dusts ports work good and its just a great tool that everyone should have in their shop. I've been very happy with all my bucktool productsand plan on buying more of their stuff. You cant go wrong with this sander, the price is great and it just works good!

Nice sander
So far I love this belt/disc sander. It arrived when it was supposed to and assembled easily. The directions were easy to follow and there is a decent section on squaring the tables to the belt and disc sander. The belt tracking directions worked exactly like they said it would and it only took a minute or so to get that set correctly. It's the only belt sander I've ever had so I can't compare it to others, but I don't think I could ask much more from it.

Not the cheapest but worth the upgrade
I needed a bench sander and saw many positive reviews for a cheaper sander on Amazon from a competitor. If money is the key factor in your decision, you can get a useful sander for almost half the price of this Bucktool. But when I received that cheaper sander and turned it on for the first time, I immediately knew it was not of the quality that I wanted and returned it without ever sanding one board. The only decent option for roughly $200 was this Bucktool. After setting it up and turning it on, I knew this was going to work well for me and should last a long time. The added power and build quality is easily worth the extra money that I paid for it. I'd rather spend a little more and have a tool that is up to the task than save a few bucks and always be disappointed. This sander does still have some issues but for $200, I can live with them. The foot post that supports the belt seems like an after thought but does add rigidity when pressing down on the belt. Really annoying that you have to remove that to put on a new belt. The cast aluminum guide on the disc side does not automatically align to 90 degrees and actually changes from what you set if you tighten it down. Despite those issues, I like the powerful motor. Based on just specs, it doesn't look like a huge upgrade from the cheaper 4.3 amp options for half the price, but after just turning on both, I can say it make a huge difference. I assume the direct drive and elimination of the belt on the cheaper units does also have a big impact. I noticed that when you turn this on and off, the belt spins up without any out of balance issues or vibrations that I immediately saw on the cheaper unit. The Bucktool really does sound and feel like a serious tool. If you plan to use a bench sander on a regular basis, then you'll be happy you stepped up to this one.

I would reccomend
Fast shipping. It is very heavy duty and does an excellent job. This is a very good word working tool that is built to last. It is heavy and does not move around when in use. I would highly recommend this tool.

After a year and a half using it...
I have used this for over a year and a half. In short, this is a great sander! My sander doesn't have any wobble in the disk or slop on the belt side. I have used it for sanding everything from small toys, home repair, and a lot of hardwood/epoxy art. The motor is powerful and has never stopped on me, even when I've really pushed the limits of it. Simply put its a workhorse. Pros: Strong motor Stable (mountable) base Tables tilt appropriately and maintain 90 degrees to sanding surface Belts easy to find/buy Dust collection ports available for each side Quiet Easy to adjust everything Cons: Belt replacement could be easier Disk replacement is a sticky mess Disk replacement is weak on all brands, so it's not really their fault. I wish there was a consistent comprehensive change from sticky to hook/loop among all brands to create continuity with regards to the disk. I wish the belt replacement didn't require using a Phillips screwdriver and could be performed with hands only. Having said all of this, I still rate it 5 stars for value and reliability, ease of use, ready available disk and belt sizes, and doing what it was purchased...economically.

Great little sander.
Excellent sander! Works well but there are a few minor issues. When using the belt portion if you set it up vertically, the table goes out of square quite easily. Have to check and square it up before almost each use. Also, the dust collection is less than impressive. Aside from that,it works really well. It's worth the slightly higher cost versus getting the generic Wen, Craftsman, Ryobi, etc. I definitely recommend it.

Works as it should, very well.
Some of the reviews are inaccurate, this is a good quality tool period. And easy belt replacement.

The sander can sand
This is a great sander. I dont like that the top belt is limited to size. If the the table and the guard came off you sand a whole 18" board at once instead of having to rotate it. My old one has the ability to do this and it fantastic for the slightly longer boards. But overall ,its a good sander.
