I got this bag to be able to carry around my books and iPad better, and works great! It smell a little at first but wait a week and it’s gone. I had mine hang outside for a night and it was practically gone. My iPad is a 9th generation 10.2 inches, and fits great in the bag, I also have my book I’m reading in there too along with other daily things.

I have been searching for a a bag like this that fits the new generation iPad and still leaves room to carry other things, but is small, leather and not expensive. This bag meets it all. Finally, I can stop looking! I recommend it to anyone!

Well made, without all the issues that everyone else seemed to mention. Some overage on the tanning oil, with some spots actually missed, minus a 1/2 star for this.Nothing a good buffing cloth didn’t pull off, and a little mink oil to help waterproof, condition, and preserve. Stitching is solid, holds more than I though it would, but the shoulder strap is a bit thin, and probably wouldn’t sustain the weight over time. Another 1/2 star ding because of this.This is goat hide, still technically leather, just not the top quality leather some may expect for this price tag. Handmade items are hard to price to begin with, so I understand why it was the price it was, but the craftsmanship isn’t quite there yet.Could have done a better job on trying to match pieces. Almost seemed rushed in some areas to just put the piece together and move on to the next.Purchased for my husband who isn’t near as picky as myself, when it comes to leather bags, and he’s quite pleased with it, so that’s the important part.Now to see if it stands the test of time.

I was very pleased with the messenger bag when it arrived today! It looks great, and the workmanship is good. Seams are excellent. There was no objectionable odor, like some others have noted. I'll be putting on a coat of Neatsfoot oil to soften and protect the leather a little bit. It is made of goat skin, which is a thinner leather than leather made from cattle. However, goatskin is tough and I expect it to wear well for this item. All in all, a great bag, especially for the price. Update after a few weeks: Still like this bag, especially the long shoulder strap. The magnet closure is not a favorite of mine. Otherwise good. Have had this bag for a couple of month and am editing this with one additional piece of information: For me, the outer pouch is just not big enough. My cellphone, wallet, glasses case, etc are too tall to fit.

This is a nice bag for the money. It comes out of the box a bit stiff. Mine was not smelly or waxy like some of the other reviewers have reported. Maybe the trade off is stiffness instead of pre-treatment. In any case, I don't see the stiffness as a huge drawback. A bit of saddle soap, a bit of mink oil and a bit of daily use will soften the bag up. Otherwise, given that it is not all that easy to find a good inexpensie 13 inch bag that comes with a handle, and given that it is a sharp-looking briefcase, I would buy this bag again. At $45 it is not an incredible bargain, but it is not unreasonably priced and seems well-enough made to handle the rough-and-tumble of daily use.

Great bag. Only downside is that I didn't realize the cross body strap wasn't removable, and I am using it as a hand bag. Your able to tuck in the strap easily. No foul smell as advertised.

Just dont do it. It has this awful goat farm meets old cooking oil smell. I sat it out side for a few days and it started to straight up grow mold. Not what a bag should be doing in such a short amount of time. Now i cant return! The smell still lingers in my nose and permeates the brain. Seriously its AWFUL!

I was nervous to get this because of my lack of knowledge on leather. However, after letting it air out for a few days (very strong leather smell) I am thrilled! I ended up getting 4 more. Originally I got this for my husband as a bible protector case/bag. But with the extra pockets and the size being unbelievably perfect I decided to get one for myself and each of my kids. Wonderful quality, beautiful bag! Great for guys AND girls! Love it!!! I didn't notice until today that the inside of the bags aren't all the same. Some are green and some are tan. Doesn't make a difference to us either way, we all are very pleased here!
