A must have !!!
Durable, thick plastic. It could probably withstand a 45 MPH hit form a tennis ball before showing any sign of wear. Stunning color and design. Life-sized replica. No fasteners for hanging but it can be done. No assembly or installation for thick, leather straps ( not nylon ), only adjusting to fit arm circumference and hand size with its sturdy metal strap buckles ( not cheap plastic or velcro ). Awesome for display. Not scratch proof. Only downside, be stupid with it and treat it like it's the real deal and it'll get 'jacked up'. You know what? Forget the tennis ball remark. 45 MPH might be underestimating it. (Don't quote me on that.) Great product.

Great Prop Replica, Excellent Quality and Construction at a Great Price.
This is an excellent prop replica that is well-priced and looks even better in person. I've owned a few costume versions of Cap's shield, and this one for the money is the highest quality I've seen. The photos just aren't enough to show the excellent paint job and how much this well-painted plastic model looks like the vibranium alloy version from the movies. It has a nice weight to it, which is always the best part of letting someone take the shield. Everyone I handed it to was surprised by the real weight of it. This shield is not flimsy, it has an accurate shape and design, and the adjustable leather straps inside are as well-made as the painted shield. It's a great display piece, excellent for authentic cosplay, and I'll be using it for charity costume events and races when it's not hanging on my wall. I'm really pleased that Hasbro has made such a quality product available at a great price. Highly recommended for Super Soldiers, HYDRA busters, and battlers of rogue SHIELD agents!

Very sturdy and has a great metallic finish to it
I believe Hasbro has heard the complaints and now put a piece of thin plastic wrap between the cardboard and the shield to avoid rubbing which would leave blemishes on the shield. Very minor scratches or blemishes on the surface of the shield. Very sturdy and has a great metallic finish to it. It isn't heavy at all and the straps on the back of the shield are durable. This shield is not a movie replica or that same high quality but, I would call this a mid-grade shield in terms of either making your own or paying $300-500 for the real deal. I'm using my shield for my cosplay Captain America outfit. It looks really good and gets the job done. What more can you want?

A Captain America Shield that will bust heads... and not you're wallet!
As guy with love for all things Marvel, I've been wanting a Captain America shield for the longest time; however affordability was always an issue. Some shields go up to $800.00, and as much as I love the captain, that ain't happening. So when I saw this baby for pre-order at, I jumped at the chance. I didn't know what to expect from a $100.00 shield, I mean clearly this can't be up to par with the higher end ones out there, right? Well, maybe not... but this thing is absolutely great, especially for the price. Here's my breakdown: Packaging: Upon arriving at the doorstep I'm surprised this thing didn't get stolen. The box that it came it was labeled "Captain America Shield", really big on the side along with other Hasbro writing. This isn't a big issue, but I live in a bad neighborhood and it's might have gotten stolen by prying eyes (how it didn't I don't know, perhaps they knew not to mess with a man that now has a full sized Captain America Shield and a 2006 Honda Civic). Just giving you a heads up if you're not going to be home for delivery. The actual inside box is pretty nice, but mine got messed up during delivery and the top was smashed, but that's not a Hasbro issue, that's a UPS issue. :/ Overall the shield was packed really well, no fancy bells or whistles, just Styrofoam and twist-ties. The product: This thing is a beast. At this price point I thought that it would be flimsy and plastic, man was I wrong. It's layered plastic (or something to that effect) that looks like it gets snapped in one on top of another, but that gives it a weight that lends to the overall feel of it. You'd expect the real shield to have a bit of heft to it and that's what this feels like. If you look closely you can see the little snap slats (?) on the rings in-between the color rings, but it's only there if you're looking, other than that they're not noticeable. The color and finish are pretty well done, I'm sure the higher end ones have a more metal finish, but it's pretty great and vibrant in it's palette. The only issue's with that is that there are tiny scratch abrasions on the paint job, might have been from the construction or the packaging. Either way, they are hardly noticeable. Also, the center blue ring is not as blue as the picture, in fact it's a bit darker than I would have liked. On the underside of this thing, it's pretty standard with two adjustable straps (Not real leather or anything) and it's silver. This is actually my biggest and real only grip with the shield... the adjustable straps are, well, not really adjustable. I'm not a huge guy, about 180 pounds, and my arm goes through both of the straps without any real security. At the tightest adjustment (which is still extremely loose for me), the forearm strap fits very loosely and the hand strap is mega loose, I have to basically hold on to the strap with my hand and grip it. That really wound't be a problem if it wasn't so loose, because even with that there is too much give for me. I mean, there are going to be compromises, I just wish it wasn't with the straps. With that being said, I don't really plan on busting this thing out when I hear police sirens on the street; I'm going to hang it up on the wall until comic-con and get this baby signed, so it's not a huge deal breaker either (clearly I'm a lover, not a fighter). So, a breakdown: Pro's: * Great quality & solid feel * Good overall paint job * I feel like Captain America... 's cousin... twice removed... Con's: * Prone to scratches * Blue color is off * Adjustable straps are not the best. * Box is a criminal attraction device, use you're shield and bust some heads! (Please don't really do that) Overall, if you're looking for a low cost Captain America shield for cosplay, Con's or just to hang on the wall (Like I did!), then this is a great option and you will not be disappointed.

You wont be sorry.
Ok, I couldn't afford the metal Captain America 75 anniversary shield..........well, I could have, but i just love the classic cap shield more. Honestly, I thought this one was metal too. I looks like it is in the pictures. I was hoping it could stop bullets, and maybe it could, .22 cal at a high angle. Its beautiful. Worth the money for a Cap fan who cant afford 300, or for the Cap fan who likes the classic look. Its a really durable plastic, looks like metal, and the sheen is amazing. It looks like what you would think Cap's real shield would look like. You can hold it, throw it (it won't come back like a boomerang) or scare your dog with it. Its all good. The box it comes in looks like you just ordered a mini fridge, and when you remove the air packets from it(not sure if that is the correct word for the balloon like things that are like giant bubble wrap) it reminds you of the scene in Men in Black 2 with the dead alien in the command center (or your invisible lower intestine, your choice in description). All in all, I replaced the 40 dollar used shield that shows the 8 bolts in the front that I bought used from a small toy/comic show at a local hotel, and the room just feels classier. Totally worth the money (not that i don't now want the metal shield strictly cause its metal and I want to test the bouncing bullets theory). Thank you Amazon for delivering it early instead of the early Sept. date I was given before. The paint job is like a new car, the way it fits and can adjust to your arm is perfect, and comes in a cool large box you can make a fort out of if you so choose. Waited a month for it, and was totally worth it. Thank you Marvel/Hasbro for making a REAL NICE shield instead of me always checking ebay for who was willing to sell the Museum Replica metal version that sells for 1K or more. Any doubts, just remember Hasbro is who made my kick ass ROTJ lightsaber 2007 addition, and I love that thing.

Great shield but packaging suck!
Pro: The shield look great! It hard to notice it's made out of plastic from a distance. And it's 1:1 scale, so that's awesome. The paint job is really good, it has this metallic look to it. And I got it when amazon was giving $20 off so I got a great deal on it. Con: The packaging is really horrible, my shield came with some scratches on the side and it's very noticeable. They have no protection on the shield at all. So of course it'll get scratch through transportation. Second con is that, the straps on the shield are not adjustable, so smaller arms can't fit very well. But you can always cut it off, and design your own. Overall I think it's a good prop but the packaging need to be better for the price you pay!

Non-preorders shipping with better packaging
Always wanted a Captain America shield, but at a decent price. Hasbro delivered and the shield looks great for only $100. I would've preferred the metal option instead, but this is something that will just hang on my wall and will never be touched again. Pros- Perfect Captain America shield for a decent price that won't break the bank Shield has a glossy finish to it - it appears to be metal but isn't Construction is very well done and don't feel cheap Very little scratches (if any) on the unit Cons- Preorders of the shield seemed to have shipped with subpar packaging. The shield wasn't wrapped in plastic, etc. Scratches all over the place and scuffs. Shield appeared to bounce around in packaging during shipping. If you live in an Apartment complex or some sort of rental other people will know what you've purchased, due to how it's shipped. *update* I have posted pics of pre-order vs non pre-ordered shield. Non pre-order ships with better packaging.

Cheap looking, fragile and poorly packaged
When I spend $250 on a plastic prop, it had better be absolutely flawless and look like a proper showpiece. Unfortunately, it did not. For starters, the box has a cardboard retaining piece that goes right over the middle of the shield and comes in direct contact with it. During shipping and handling, it rubs against the shield and leaves all kinds of scuffs and scratches. The cardboard around the edge does the same thing to the edge of the shield in several spots as well. So it ends up looking fairly worn before you have ever used it. My second complaint is that the plastic doesn't look like metal at all. The overlay is clearly computer printed from a low-resolution image, because you can see the pixels if you look at it from about 12-18 inches away. Also, it doesn't look metallic at all. It is supposed to represent a metal object, so for the price they're charging, it should look like the real deal. Not even close. I opted for the plastic shield instead of metal, because I'm going to be carrying it around all night at several parties and plastic is much lighter than metal. But in the end, I returned it and bought a metal one that looks fantastic and only cost about $40 more. It's heavier, and I'm going to get tired carrying it, but it looks authentic, which is what I'm going for.
