The round button changes between folders. As long as each book has been put in it's own folder then the round button allows you to switch between them.

Q: Why do I need A dongle, I was told to get one

This device is an mp3 player. It does not have any internal memory storage. You will need a USB memory stick. As the memory stick is inserted in the top of the device I advise that you get a small one so that it does not get knocked. You will also need access to a computer to upload the mp3 files from the computer onto your USB before inserting in the Sonic 2. I believe the RNIB can provide talking books. The device remembers where it is up to when you turn it on again after your last listening session. If you listen to lots of music files the device plays them sequentially. You can only jump forward or back one file at a time. As I am dyslexic, I use the blue tooth facility when studying. I copy text and paste it into a text to speech reader on my phone. (There are lots about.) I then listen to the text through Sonic 2. The forward and back buttons move the cursor one sentence either side. Great for when I lose concentration and have to listen again. To recap: Get a small sized USB memory stick. Mine is the size of my thumb nail. Use a computer to upload mp3 files. If you want a device with more facilities like "shuffle" or for it to display any information then go elsewhere. Sonic 2 is great for listening to talking books, lectures as well as music. I love it.

Yes, you can fast-forward and rewind within a track. The player also bookmarks your position when the player is switched off.
