I passed my ccm exam on the first try
Loved the book. I passed the ccm exam on the first try.Pros of the book. Very concise and great summary covering all sub topics to be tested on the ccm exam, inexpensive and great questions with answers and rationale at the back of the book. I have already lent to book to another colleague who is taking the exam in August 2014.Cons. I felt that the book was a bit scattered. It was hard to go back to review items when I re read it the second time around because the topics do not follow a systematic order. Some chapters had information from other chapters so that you almost have to read the entire book to look for reference instead of going to table of content and finding the information under the indicated chapter. Page stickies and page tabs solved this issue lol. Also not enough questions need more.Overall, I HIGHLY recommend. Lol. Plus they have a guarantee anyways if you don't pass on the first try they give you the money back. I also did not do any prep courses. I don't believe in paying money for that crap. Thank God that I passed on the first go. I used this and other items to study. Well worth the price.

This Book was Awesome!!!
I used this book as a follow up to another one just to make sure I had all basis covered and I should have gotten this one first. Both book complemented each other well, having similar questions in them. This book had even more items to cover. This book also had some very helpful hints that I would advise everyone to make sure they know. It definitely helped me to pass the exam on the first try!!! This book is a much purchase. Also, the grammatical errors were minimal and still very easy to follow. Others who used this book to study for the exam and have written negative comments must not have had a good day. All the material you need to pass the exam is in this book. You have to study why you got the wrong ones incorrect and also why you got the correct practice ones right because this will help you to not only learn the concepts related to that specific question, but to other questions and concepts as well.

Not thrilled with this book!
Currently studying to take the CCM exam next month, and I’ve been using this book, as it was recommended by coworkers {and my boss}, who’ve already passed the exam. I am planning to purchase a different book, however. There is no flow to the book. No table of contents. No organization. If you need to review a certain topic, you have to flip through the book to find what you’re looking for, and you may find it in multiple places in the book. That doesn’t work well for me. The information seems concise, but some of the answers don’t match the info. For example, there’s a question about who can function as a gatekeeper... The book says “A Gatekeeper is a primary care physician...”, but the answer is All of the above {nurse, physician assistant, and physician}. Makes no sense! Also, there’s a question about Care Maps, which are not mentioned at all in the book! Also, the six domains on CM listed in the explanation of one of the test questions, are different from the six domains listed in the book! Very frustrating! I’m done with this book, and moving on to another - CCM Certification Made Easy. Reviews are much better!***Update after taking {and passing} the exam: While I don’t take back my complaints about this book, I have to say I am glad I used it to make my flash cards, because 85% of the questions on the test, we’re in this book. I got nervous as it got closer to the test, because everyone I knew that passed, used this book, so I decided not to totally discount it. The other book I used was great also, but did not contain as much info from the test.

Highly Recommended.
After passing the exam last week I feel this was the best study guide for me overall. Material necessary to know for the exam is covered in an easy to read and understand format. The practice test at the end of book most helpful in providing the rationale for correct answers as well as why other choices did not answer the question. There is also a section on general test taking strategies, including recommendations related to text anxiety. I used this CCM Exam Secrets book along with one other exam study guide and the CCMC glossary list which is found on their website. Thankfully, this combination of study materials worked for me.

Put this on your must-buy list.
Because there are no specific preparatory books to refer to, you are left not knowing what to study for! There are a variety of Case Management settings. If you have only been in one of them, you need to be exposed to the others. This is where the study guide comes in. The test taking tips are helpful. The practice test questions are REALLY helpful. This guide helps you to grasp an idea of what topics will be covered. I had to use the internet to read and understand some of the vocabulary and concepts I had never heard before, but this was my only book. I purchased a CD from elswhere that was useless, but thats a different review! My preliminary results indicate I passed, but I have to wait another 4 weeks for the official verdict. I would have failed miserably without this guide. If you can afford to buy only one book I highly recommend this one.

Great Study Material!
Unfortunately, I have taken the CCM Exam several times. It has been a great disappointment failing this test those times. My last score was 492/500. I have been a RN Case Manager since 2008 and know how to be a case manager however, I need the certification to further my career.I decided to purchase the CCM Exam Secrets Study Guide for my December Exam. I do not like to read and am very pleased with how in depth the study material in the book is but is very short. It explains vocabulary, the case management concepts as well as other things that are on the exam in very little words. I look forward to passing the CCM in December.
