I thought thicker would be better and bought 2 6". This is very rigid and didn't even move when laid on, so if anyone is planning to use for a mattress, I ended up cutting one in half and using 2 - 3 inch pieces. I had ordered 2, so I experiemented by first only cutting to 4", 4" was also very rigid.
