Had a tank that was 10 years old had started tripping the breaker on the thermostat after over heating. The wiring on the bottom unit had actually heated up to the point that it melted the plastic on the lower heater. First I had removed the elements and cleaned them off. They were caked in mineral junk! After reinstalling them, it would still trip daily. After installing this and a W10 (top one) my problems have stopped completely.
