For anyone who has made shelves for this shed, can you please tell me the dimensions of the shelf?

Okay, I will say this much. I read here, and went to Rubbermaid. Shelves are SUPPOSE to be 28.25 X 9.25. After I received my storage units and put it together the actual dimensions of my unit's shelf are 29.5 X 10. This was for the top shelf. So, for those whom are curious, go to the local hardware store and get a 6'X10" common pine board and cut to length. Cut out the corners per the recommendation and these will fit very snug.

Does this come with shelves or do I have to make them myself?

no they do not come with shelves you will have to make some how ever there is ever thing you need except the board

Has anyone tried painting their shed?

Thank you for your interest in our products. Our storage sheds are made of high density polyethylene. One of the features of this plastic is that it is easy to clean because materials do not adhere well to it. Unfortunately, this property prevents adhesives or paints from sticking well.

What kind of lock do you need to purchase to go with this?

The kind of lock you would put on say a gym or school locker. You know the ones....it has a combination dial. The unit has a whole perfect for a locker lock. It is a great unit. It is sturdy and accommodating for a small area. I have had mine for a few months now and love it.
