Root-feeding larvae destroy a plant’s root system reducing the plant’s ability to take up water and nutrients. This results in reduced plant vigour, reduced growth, wilting and can result in plant death. Larvae can be found it the soil year- round and are especially active in spring and autumn. After they emerge, adults feed on foliage leaving characteristic notches around their outer edges of leaves. I put it on as soon as received. But a further dwarf bean root had been eaten through last week. When I looked into the soil there were hundreds of larvae so the danger is that it may have been too much for the nem's, I guess that it will become more obvious next growing season.
