Equipped with a magnifier, streak plate, and a detailed study guide, this compact kit supports hands-on STEM learning for grades 4-12, enabling students to explore physical properties like hardness, luster, and magnetism in alignment with standard earth science curricula. ## Description This classroom rocks and minerals collection provides students with hands-on experience testing physical properties. The collection and materials are designed to correlate with standard earth science texts, and can be used for demonstrating the physical properties of minerals, including hardness, specific gravity, luster, tenacity, cleavage, fracture, streak, and magnetism. The collection includes 75 rock and mineral samples (measuring approximately 1-2"), a streak plate, a magnifier, a collection index sheet, and a study guide (with rock classification and rock cycle charts). The samples fall into 1 of 7 categories- minerals in the scale of hardness, streak-luster-cleavage-fracture-specific gravity, rock forming minerals, ores of metals and nonmetals, igneous rocks, sedimentary rocks, and metamorphic rocks. This collection is great both at home and in the classroom, designed for grades 4-12. Science education products incorporate applied math and science principles into classroom projects. Teachers in pre-K, elementary, and secondary classrooms use science education kits and products alongside science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) curriculum to demonstrate STEM concepts and real-world applications through hands-on activities. Science education projects include a broad range of activities, such as practical experiments in engineering, aeronautics, robotics, energy, chemistry, physics, biology, and geology. ## Features - Collection includes 75 mineral and rock samples - Each sample is numbered and identified on the collection index sheet - Samples measure approximately 1"-2" in size - Rock samples include igneous, sedimentary, and metamorphic - Collection contains the index sheet, an introductory study guide, a streak plate, and a magnifier ## Technical Specifications | Specification | Value | |---------------|-------| | Age Range Description | Adult | | Asin | B008AK79LA | | Best Sellers Rank | #224,421 in Toys & Games (See Top 100 in Toys & Games) #2,012 in Educational Science Kits | | Brand Name | Geoscience Industries | | Customer Reviews | 4.5 4.5 out of 5 stars (366) 4.5 out of 5 stars | | Educational Objective | STEM | | Global Trade Identification Number | 00848850106202 | | Included Components | The set includes 75 mineral samples (measuring 1-2"), streak plate, magnifier, magnet, and a study guide (with rock classification and rock cycle charts). | | Item Dimensions | 19.3 x 11 x 1.6 inches | | Item Type Name | science-kits | | Item Weight | 3.6 pounds | | Manufacturer | Geosciences Industries | | Manufacturer Part Number | 13357 | | Manufacturer Recommended Age | 11 - 13 years | | Material Type | Mineral and rock | | Model Number | 13357 | | Number Of Items | 1 | | Number Of Packs | 1 | | Set Name | Introductory Earth Science Classroom Rocks and Minerals Collection | | Size | 11 inches (W) x 19.3 inches (L) x 1.6 inches (H) | | Theme | Geology | | Unit Count | 1 Count | | Upc | 848850106202 084885000300 | ## Images ![Geosciences Industries 13357 Introductory Earth Science Classroom Rocks and Minerals Collection - Image 1](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/61cijOGsdTL.jpg) ![Geosciences Industries 13357 Introductory Earth Science Classroom Rocks and Minerals Collection - Image 2](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/71sdgwxCO9L.jpg) ![Geosciences Industries 13357 Introductory Earth Science Classroom Rocks and Minerals Collection - Image 3](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/61guy9YMjeL.jpg) ![Geosciences Industries 13357 Introductory Earth Science Classroom Rocks and Minerals Collection - Image 4](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/51llRDFwgtL.jpg) ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Rock and mineral collection *by on Reviewed in the United States August 2, 2017* I think this rock collection is an awesome value for the price. Rock and mineral sets this large and this quality are usually far more expensive. A few of the rocks had gone to visit their neighbors, and one had lost his label, on the trip to my house but that was easy to fix. None of the rocks came broken, and they all look like decent-size, good quality samples. The included booklet seems like a good introduction to earth science and I will read it carefully since I never was exposed to that subject in school (my bad). I recently became interested in rocks and minerals about 6 months ago, and I have bought a couple inexpensive rock and mineral sets where you have to ID the rocks yourselves, and a couple field guides, also a couple mixed bags of polished stones (one of which came with a few rocks and fossils). I struggled with ID'ing the rocks and minerals in the sets I bought, and I think this classroom set of 75 rocks and minerals will help me a great deal as I learn, plus it really looks awesome. It's more money than I've spent on anything else so far, but really worth it. Oh, and the first 9 minerals in this set are the 9 minerals of the Mohs scale, so no need to buy a separate Mohs scale set, which can cost you $15-20 alone.UPDATE: The price has nearly doubled on this since I bought it. Too bad. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Excellent set! 75 samples! *by on Reviewed in the United States July 27, 2020* Beautiful set of rocks and minerals. I'm impressed with the size of the samples and the variety and all for a really good price. We homeschool and will be using this for a geology study along with Focus on Geology by Rebecca W Keller and Geology Lab For Kids by Garrett Romaine. This set's Introductory guide and catalog list are a wonderful help as to where the rocks and mineral fit in the grander scheme of geology. The set comes with a small white tile, a small bar magnet, nail and a magnifying glass. All items we will need as we catalogue their qualities for our study.Excellent set! I highly recommend it! ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Good starter set of rock samples to learn geology. *by on Reviewed in the United States December 17, 2025* Nicely packaged and a good set to start your young ones learning geology. --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - 🛒 **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** — Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** — Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - 💰 **No Hidden Fees** — All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - 🔄 **15-Day Free Returns** — Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - 🔒 **Secure Payments** — Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** — Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.sk/products/82023996-geosciences-industries-13357-introductory-earth-science-classroom-rocks-and-minerals](https://www.desertcart.sk/products/82023996-geosciences-industries-13357-introductory-earth-science-classroom-rocks-and-minerals) --- *Product available on Desertcart Slovakia* *Store origin: SK* *Last updated: 2026-10-24*
