Easy to setup and get online. Great product!
I purchased this to help automate a few smart-home features. The main reason I got this unit was to monitor the temperature and humidity in a room. If the humidity increased behind 50%, it would trigger an event via IFTTT and turn on a room fan via GE-ZWave, wireless smart light switch through a wink hub. Then once the humidity dropped below 50% it would turn off the fan. And as a precaution, I have IFTTT monitor the switched on fan, if it happens to run for more than 60 minutes, it would automatically turn it off. Then, if the humidity is still above 50%, the process will start over again. Also, another use I have for it, is to monitor water temperature in a water tank. I installed a deicer heating element in the tank, and when submerged optional DS18B20 sensor reports to the unit, it uses IFTTT to control a wemo insight switch. When the temperature drops below 30 deg F, it will turn on the wemo insight switch and start the deicer element. When the temperature is above 33 deg F, the insight switch turns off the deicer element. There is a backup protocol I setup with IFTTT just to be sure the deicer does not stay on all the time. PROS Now couple that with all the additional features (Air Temperature, Humidity, Ambient Light Intensity, Vibration Index Sensor, On board memory storage of data, and free 200MB cloud service account to get started, connect to house Wi-Fi, battery or DC powered, add external sensors (two microusb inputs), and connectivity to RS485 devices), I would have to say this is a nice little compact package that could be installed almost anywhere. Granted you will have longer performance if you can power this from an outlet instead of relying on batteries. Very straight forward setup process. With an app that walks you through the setup process. Has an entry level free tier to get you started. If you pay for a subscription and higher tier you can send alerts as SMS and voice call as well as increase the amount of data storage. Able to display history of data in graph view, and select a data-point to view the data (sorta, it is a bit clunky though). Battery or External Power supply. Adjustable data reporting / reading frequency (pre-programmed options 10, 30, 60 minutes. Custom has a minimum 1 minute and higher value in whole number increments). Power saving options. Reports battery voltage and Wi-Fi signal strength. Setup Alerts rules to report as a notification on a mobile device or email (free tier subscription). View data channels on mobile device (personally tested on iPhone X, and other iOS devices) as well as a web interface through their management console portal. Generates API keys automatically and setups your device for your account. For IoT developers, you can obtain your devices API keys for building your management system. Works with IFTTT and integrates into smart-home setups (tested with Wink Hub 2, Wemo devices). CONS (To be honest, not really cons, just things to be aware of. This really is a great product.) I did find the picture of the external temperature sensor (DS18B20) with the product a little misleading. And yes, you have to read below the picture to realize it was an option. If you are a picture shopper like me, then you may miss that. I was expecting an external sensor to come with the device, but was mistaken. (More of a disclaimer, not a con) For people that us English system of measurements, the Ubibot alert rule values are in metric only. However, if you use IFTTT to monitor readings, then you can use that to adjust your threshold values in English units. If you are a developer and need faster data frequency readings, then you are limited to 1 minute device recording, and then the speed of you network to get the data to external data servers. Fastest data frequency is 1 minute.

3 warnings from Norton security about app, SMS not free
I have Norton Security (NS) installed on my android (pixel 3) and after I installed the Ubibot App got three warnings. That it was sharing my personal information, That it may try to install another app, and it places an add icon on the home screen. I did not see the latter, but didn't wait around to find out and uninstalled the app and returned the product. I have a lot of apps on my phone and NS has never warned me about any other apps, let alone 3 issues. The product info also reads like SMS is free but It is not. It also requires location to be enabled in order to "fetch wifi information". Why? The instructions aren't all that clear but once you get it set up it is pretty straight forward and appears to be accurate and the push notification work as advertised. During setup I had to check the "skip ssid" box to get it to finish the connect to the Ubibot. The app setup takes you to the wifi setup screen to connect to the Ubibot network but I could not find a way back that allowed me to continue. telling it to ignore the SSID check allowed it to continue without going to the wifi setup screen, I did shut down the wifi that it was using and started it back up and it took about 3 hours to come back on line.

Effective remote monitoring of basement humidity and temperature levels
With no previous reviews to consider, I took a chance on this relatively new product and am glad I did. As a consumer, I needed to monitor humidity and temperature levels in my basement. I'm frequently away from home, and the possibility of the dehumidifier failing for any period of time can have dire consequences for mold in the South. This UK company is clearly geared towards manufacturing and agricultural applications, but for my limited consumer purpose it has turn out exceptionally well. Set-up was a bit of a challenge, but changing to a different home SSID solved that issue. The device capably joins my IoT (Internet of Things) collection of smoke alarms, thermostats and light switches, and I'm now able to monitor the basement levels from anywhere. The computer-based application works well with easy-to-read charts and customizable reports. "Rules" can be set up to send alerts via email such as humidity levels reaching a certain level or the device shutting down. I tested that feature out, and it worked perfectly. The phone app is cluttered and not well-customizable (for example, Cº instead of Fº which is reported out on the computer app), but a responsive support team tells me improvements in that app are due shortly. I can see a great future for this company and its devices for large-scale industry, and for my consumer home-based need of simply monitoring remote humidity/temperature readings, this does the trick. I recommend it to anyone looking for cost-effective and efficient remote monitoring.

Does what it's supposed to do
I followed the directions and had this connected to my network and the UbiBot app/website in a very short time. I recommend downloading the app and registering while you're waiting for your UbiBot to arrive so you can move through the quick start instructions. Initially I received a couple of notifications about my UbiBot being offline (a default notification), but then it was fine and worked well (remained connected) wherever I placed it in my home. My goal was to use the data from this device to get light and temperature readings to use in my homegrown home automation system. For that, I need to directly have access to the latest readings. From reading in advance, I knew that the battery life was 4-6 months with a 15 minute data sync interval, and I want updates every minute. So I also purchased the micro-usb splitter cable so I could bypass using batteries. I bought the splitter because I also purchased the remote temperature probe (because I know the internal sensor won't be as accurate). I used the website (although the app works too) to configure the frequency of the data synchronization and the time between sensor readings so I would have light and temperature readings every minute instead of the default 15 minutes. If you're a techy (like me) and want direct access to the data (in JSON format), you can read the sensor's data using an API call to the UbiBot server. But I wanted to bypass the UbiBot server and access the device directly. That's not as easy, but after about a week of back and forth with UbiBot Support I have my own server receiving the data directly from my UbiBot and I'm completely disconnected from the UbiBot server. UbiBot is beta testing direct access with some bigger "industrial" customers, and isn't really supporting this for individuals at this point, but Yang gave me just enough information so that I could figure it out. There's no written documentation for this, and they don't officially support it (direct sensor access bypassing their server), so if you need any hand-holding along the way you won't get it. The website and app are more industrial-friendly than home-user-friendly, and might not be what's expected by a typical home user. The alerts work fine sending an email or app notification.

Solid features, package, UI
This is a nice sensor that is part of a much larger sensor suite. In the box, there is an included micro USB cable to plug into your 10W (or 2A) USB power source. While the unit has both a micro and a mini USB port, I wasn't able to power it via the mini USB port using my cable, which is fine, they give you the correct cable to use. They also have a nice little slide in hanger with double sided cushion tape which you can use to mount the unit to a wall. When you install, do go through the steps to put the unit initially into WiFi initialization mode (LED alternately blinks green and red). Also, I would suggest putting your phone onto the WiFi network that you want the sensor to be on during setup (I always connect my IOT appliances to my WiFi guest network as a security measure instead of my normal SSID). It connects fine even in poor WiFi signal areas - my 2.4 Ghz network was showing about -82 RRSI signal strength (both from the device itself and an iPhone monitor I used), and it worked fine. Give the unit 30 minutes or so to get a correct temperature/humidity reading and to send it to the cloud. The cloud interface both on the phone app and the PC is nice and works well. The default sensor reading interval is 5 minutes, but the default sensor transmit interval is 15 minutes (sends three readings at once), but you can change that, especially if you have AC power (which I highly recommend!). Final note. It is really annoying when good products end up with a 1 star review as the first review you see, especially when the review is based on a use case very few people will use - in the bad review, battery power and 100% humidity (outside in the rain?). Easy-to-use gadget for home monitoring and research
I ordered this product right after the Thanksgiving and had been using this for a couple of days. I would like to give a quick review of this exciting device and share some hands-on experience which may be interesting to others. I was basically using the app on iOS to do all the setting and monitoring. Temperature, humidity, and light were the three major things I am looking at. The setup was easy and smooth. Simply make sure you follow the steps on the manual and app. You would need to connect your phone to the WiFi of the device once during the setup. Whenever the device is linked to your app, you can switch back to the regular WiFi network and access the monitoring data. Your phone does not need to be within the same WiFi network as the device since the data is stored and managed on the server. I put the device in my living room. Since it is the winter season, my heater is set to high during the morning and evening time but low during the daytime. I am able to see the temperature fluctuation in my living room (see attached screenshots). It seems in the morning, the temperature does not really go as high as I want which is because there is only a short period when the heater is turned on. I probably need to set the start time earlier. Meanwhile, I have noticed the humidity drops from 43% to 33% at some point which I may not even notice without a real-time monitoring system. For the light, there is nothing surprising so far. It has high readings during the evening simply because the light is on. The low reading during the daytime is because the device is far from the window. I am really interested to keep on using this device for a longer time to get a more comprehensive dataset of my home condition. Also, I can feel that my bedroom (on the 2nd floor) is warmer than the other area on the same floor. My next plan would be to verify that and figure out if it is due to the improper distribution of the vents. Generally speaking, I can see a lot of potential applications using this handy device and would definitely explore more.

DO NOT BUY THIS - BUGGIEST MOST UNRELIABLE PRODUCT IVE EVER USED
First of all this is the FIRST review ive EVER written on amazon. I am so upset at the time i've wasted with this product that I HAVE to write a review in hopes you wont waste your time and money on this. I am a computer engineer and I work with electronics, computers, servers, and networks all day every day of my life. I just wasted 2 hours trying to connect my phone to this device. I followed each direction in the included 5 step instructions sheet. I tried connecting this device to my Android phone, My IOS Iphone, and My windows 10 PC. NOTHING worked. This device is either Dead on arrival or it is simply the worst written piece of code/worst built product i've ever purchased from amazon. What i cant believe is that i spent almost $100 on it. I tried EVERY set of instructions, every possible operating system, and i tried each of them multiple times. The reason i am so upset is because the software available for IOS and Android works like it was written by a kid. It is buggy, sends you to your settings screen and has you do things totally out of order. It wants you to connect to YOUR wifi, THEN connect back to the local SSID of the device to set it up but if your phone goes to sleep, or auto connects back to your house wifi during this process it will break the entire thing. The PC version of their software is an even BIGGER joke. The PC version installs a driver first, but the driver install process hangs when you click install and eventually (5 minutes or more) completes... there is no progress bar, there is no nothing you just have to wait while the program hangs. I wouldn't be surprised if something malicious was also being installed during this process. A usb driver should NOT take 5 minutes to install. Period. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT, At this point i think i would actually save time by buying a rasberry pi and a humidity sensor and building this entire thing my self.

Not easy to use.
Very difficult to set up. Not user friendly instructions. Finally got it setup through trial and error. But then it wouldn't hold the WiFi signal. Found out if you want to look at more than the current day readings you must physically hook it up via a USB cable to a computer. I returned the product.

Perfect for home temperature monitoring in winter
I bought this for monitoring our home in the winter while we were away. I'm not a techy person so I asked my highly techy nephew to check it out for me. He said it was a good deal because most companies require a yearly fee for data and the amount of data included with the UbiBot purchase is enough that we would never use it all. It stays continually connected to the wall using the cord & plug it came with. It has batteries for backup if the power goes out. It worked very well! We tried it out before our trip away by putting it in a cold area that was below the low temperature we had the monitor set at. It worked, sending me an email too and also an alert on my cellphone UbiBot app. It was the first time I wasn't worried about the house when we left it in the winter. Even when we have people checking the house every 2 days there is always a concern that things will freeze up quickly in severe cold weather, so this UbiBot is perfect! I can check the app often from our vacation spot using the app. It shows when the temperature started to decline if it happened. I'm very pleased. I needed my nephew to help me with the initial setup in connecting the app with the device, because, as I stated, I'm not a techy person....any set up directions seem too complicated for me. Once it is set up it is easy to use to monitor your temperature, humidity, light and vibration. I just use it for room temperature.

Definitely recommend it!
An excellent product. truely cordless. Easy to setup up. Just need two AA batteries and it can be put anywhere I want it to be. The reading is pretty accurate compared to my Honeywell thermostat. The software side is even better. The IOS software is easy to use. all the data are plotted and they are all cloud sync so no need to worry about the data lost. It can even send an alert to the phone when the device is powered off(for example, need to replace the battery). The website console is also great to use. I can see that the product has a whole IoT platform to support which makes it distinctive to other similar products. There are so many powerful features on that platform. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who wants to have a decent cordless smart home sensor. I'm actually thinking to buy more to have a multiroom temperature mapping.
