Castle Filters One-Year HVAC Furnace Filter, MERV 8, 16x25x1, 1 Count (Pack of 1)

I was excited to try this filter out as it seemed promising. I was looking for a filter that would offer a little higher performance than the cheap fiberglass filters, but not too much as when I have gone that route in the past, I have had short cycling issues with the furnace due to the limit switch, and reduced airflow. While I do believe the filter performance of this product was about what I was looking for, the claim of keeping high airflow for a year is completely untrue. It didn't even last two weeks before my furnace started short cycling and not heating the house...we could hardly even feel air coming out of our vents. Very disappointed..would not recommend...waste of money.

Installed in May 2018. By Oct 2018, it was so plugged the fan was trying to suck the whole screen into the duct. Replaced with the paper filter type I used prior and the house has cooled down within hours. It's a well made product, it just does not last as long as advertised. And for the cost, it should. So, going back to paper and monthly changes. Less expensive.

I’ve only had this for a few months and it is collapsing on itself - apparently not enough airflow being allowed through. Gonna go back to paper filters and change them every few months.

It does not work for over 3 months. Next time I'll read the negative reviews

Works great, had about 4 months now and it blocked up. Took a vacuum hose and sucked all the dust and hair off and it works as good as new.

I was tired of changing filters every few months and paying out for the expensive ones because the cheap ones don't do anything. At face value this one may seem expensive, but in reality it is the cheapest, in price that is. We always knew when it was time to change the filter because everyone started sneezing all the time. With this filter we didn't really start sneezing, my wife just wondered if we should change it. So I ordered a new one and made the change. I wrote the date on the one I originally installed. Wow! It was a year and half ago! I think I got my money's worth out of it. By the way, we live in a rural area with a lot of agriculture, dust is always in the air. I would highly recommend this filter to everyone.

So, one filter one year. Good idea, bad execution. No matter where you live, the filter is going to get dirty in the course of a year. I found the faintest suggestion that you should blow it off once in a while.* It's a good filter. Three layers of various density foam stuff. Middle one is sticky for some reason. Maybe that's just me* When the filters begins building it's collection of dust and dirt my AC struggled, usually a monthly thing.* It has the usual style of casing. Criss cross to keep it from being sucked up** Big con here: case is cardboard, not even cardboard, like a shirt box - and the layers of sponge are so thick that my little air compressor could not get all the dirt out.* Tried the vacuum. Started messing up the little paper crisx cross areas* No problem. Take it apart and wash it. THEY GLUED ALL SIDE SHUT. So I had to tear one end to get the foam out and actually clean it.* Big pro here: there was so much gunk caught in those foam pieces I have to use the power setting on the shower to get it clean and it took 15 mins before the water ran clear so it's cleaning the air for sure.* Big disappointed: it's nearly impossible to get it all back together without destroying the flimsy shell and I was not successful until I left out the sticky middle layer.Summary, it's a quality filter concept just needs a little tweak on the shell if they want to advertise it as a one year use. ** Fyi I still clean it monthly because gross.

This is my second time buying this filter.  I got a year out of the first one and will be buying again next year. More than worth its price.

Only have to change it once every 9-12 months
