Kendal Large Handcrafted Wood Cuckoo Clock MX015-2

Nice Cuckoo clock for the price. I have wanted a cuckoo clock for a long time but didn't want to spend the $$$ to buy a German made one. This clock looks nice with its wood accents, however some of the parts are plastic (the door for the cuckoo, the time faceplate and the hands to the clock). Obviously, not the highest quality, but looks very nice and met my needs. The cuckoo sings on time and the forest sounds are nice. So far the clock is keeping excellent time and I love that the clock has a light sensor, so after lights go out, the cuckoo stays in his house and the clock is silent. Also like the fact that you can shut off the cuckoo completely if you don't want to listen to it every hour, but in my opinion if this is the case why buy a cuckoo clock? If you want an affordable, nice looking cuckoo clock and don't care if its made in Germany, this is a good alternative.

We both (wife included!) really like the clock. I'd purchase it all over again. I've wanted a nice Cuckoo Clock for at least 3 decades. It fits the bill nicely, was very well packaged for safe shipment, is well made and has kept accurate time (for the week we have had it now). Very "appropriately whimsical" for my, "highly discriminating cuckoo tastes!" Fun! We really enjoy it. A good purchase! {EDIT; Over A year later now! There's a SWITCH on the LEFT SIDE which sets the VOLUME to your choice of: Off, Low, or High. We prefer the Highest setting and leave it there around the clock. :-) It makes the Number of cuckoos for "each hour of the day"; On the hour. Each cuckoo is followed by a "slightly" fainter one, which is "supposed to sound 'as if' an echo off of imaginary forest trees" of the first. NOW 14 MONTHS LATER and the clock finally needs a new set of 2 D-cell Duracell batteries; Pretty good I think! I had to come back here to look up just "when I bought it" to find out how long the set of batteries had actually lasted! TIME REALLY FLIES!!! :-) I just LITERALLY can't believe it's UNENDINGLY made ALL THOSE CUCKOOS, with the bird poping out, and flapping its wings in unison with each too, FOR OVER A YEAR NOW on a SINGLE set of 2 D-cells. It's been a good clock! I do recommend reading the, "simple instruction manual" it comes with. THAT, will "SIMPLY" help you UNDERSTAND EVERYTHING and it should then work fine for you too. It has even WITHSTOOD the TEST of TIME now! :-) Unerringly ACCURATELY too! Kind of amazing overall, when you think it ALWAYS swings its pendulum nicely additionally. Two simple D-cells are capable of far more than I would ever have thought.}

This clock looks great and sounds great.

Works great, keeps good time, good quality and the right size. Love that it has a night time sensor that turns off the coo coo at night. I like that it is battery operated, no chains to pull daily. It's really a 5 Star all day long, but the only thing I don't care for is the coo coo "echo". I think it would be better without the echo coo coo. Nick

My family loves it!!! I love the quality, the little bird from the window effect. The raindeer on the top. I've been with this "cucu" for over 6 months now and still works like a charm!!

I almost love this clock. The quality of the woodwork is surprisingly good, and the clock itself seems to keep accurate time. The bird sounds, however, are not appealing to me. Even at the low volume setting, it is way too loud. Even worse, the attempt to replicate a forest by adding the sounds of a babbling brook, other birds, and an echo from the cuckoo (so every call is actually doubled) just sounds cheap to me. Perhaps at a lower volume it wouldn't be so bad. I tried to think of a way to muffle the sound without compromising the clock, but couldn't. I still wanted the bird to emerge on the hour (which won't happen if you use their switch), so I pried a wire off the speaker and that did the trick. I My preference would be just a straight-forward, low-volume call without the fancy effects, but silence is a good second alternative. Too bad, since the rest of this is a great bargain for the price.

Overall: A fantastic gift for my husband over Christmas. He has always wanted one but we haven't had much luck with clocks in this house. This one works like a dream. Pros Wooden Looks Authentic Cuckoo is Loud (two cuckoo's for every hour, one is considered the 'echo') Easy to mount The batteries are long lasting, we are using the same batteries we put in it in December No fussing with inner wheels and stuff Cons Antlers are hard to get to stay put
