Review: Works as expected - This adapter works just as I was hoping it would. I use it to connect the line out of my Zoom Q3 HD and H8 cameras using a 3.5 mm stereo cable to my GoPro 11 Black. It even charges the GoPro while attached. I like the image from the GoPro 11 better than the Zoom’s but the Zoom mics provide better audio than the GoPro’s and are convenient to take on the road. As long as I set the line out audio output to 50% on the Zoom cameras, I do not experience any clipping either . While the GoPro’s internal mic provides decent audio, the audio quality and stereo imaging are enhanced greatly using this device. Update: I think this issue is intermittent but I noticed that sometimes the stereo audio would be summed to mono. The workaround I found was to follow a simple process of 1. Power up the GoPro, 2. Plug in the Media Mod, 3. Plug in the mics, 4. Plug in the power for the Media Mod. This seems to work all the time. I love this Media Mod now. With the Zoom mics from the other cameras, it makes a simple, compact solution for live streaming and even for capturing high quality recordings of my piano performances. The Media Mod is a no brainer if you are a musician looking to capture decent quality audio for your music videos.
Review: This is ONLY meant to be used with Hero 5, Hero6 and Hero 7 - Works great if you set it up properly. The adapter is bulky - no doubt about that! It fits well and it works well. No sound issues and the mic I use (Rode) sounds amazing with my Hero 6. There are a LOT of other reviews on here that say you can use some cheap headphone adapter that works with Moto z or other devices - WRONG! DO NOT listen to those reviews, I made that mistake and just got my refund after wasting my time ordering all kinds of products that do NOT work. It sucks, because this is way over priced and it's bulky, but it works and there are no sound or connection issues. Sometimes the seller changes the product without updating the listing so they can keep the reviews, but if that was the case, I think this seller would have been better off listing this as a new product. A lot of people mentioned using this with their session or hero 4... I don't even think that's possible because this adapter is USB C. While I hate the size and price, I had to write a review that clearly explains who this is for and what to expect. That is the reason I gave it 5 stars - because no one else did. Ignore the other reviews because they are very misleading.

**Q: What was wrong with the hero 4's simple, easy and smaller connector? is gopro trying to upset its users?**
A: I don't represent GoPro by any means but my guess would be due to the amount of technology in the hero 5 in order to save space inside the camera they may have left out the hardware to record with an external microphone. As much as people complain, I have one of these and it isn't that big. You can also get a USB-C male to USB-C female extension cable and keep the adaptor away from the camera. For me the ability to charge while using an external MIC is better than having a small adaptor...

**Q: This is a $50 part. Why the 400% markup? Holy price gouging!!**
A: Might has well get th GP media pack. Same price w/other accessories

**Q: Will this work on the Hero 9?**
A: Yes, it will. A firmware release set for December will bring the functionality back to the HERO9 Black.
