Since I believe in the demonic I found the movie pretty interesting
Since I believe in the demonic I found the movie pretty interesting. I know the movie is based on a real person, Ralph Sarchie, but mostly fictional storyline so I got curious and looked into it. Come to find out he's actually a retired NYPD sergeant and traditionalist Catholic demonologist. There's a video of the actor that plays his wife talking about how she was able to view some real footage of an exorcism Ralph was involved in that the police allowed her to see, it's not been made public and can't be found on the internet, it was SO interesting to hear what she had to say. She talks about a man in a straight jacket who was made to sit in a chair they're praying over him and his forehead splits open out of nowhere and as he's drooling his spit hits his white jacket and turns red, she said she got so freaked out she had to turn the video off and couldn't watch anymore. Also, Sarchie was involved in helping Ed and Lorraine Warren during some of their cases so if you like them and these types of things I believe you'll like this movie.

If a good exorcism is your catnip...
If a good exorcism is your catnip, this is a movie you'll dig. Extremely strong performances, just an all-around good and creepy-ass time. A little action, a little procedural, a little Satan -- what's not to love? Supposedly based on a true story which is probably about as 'true' as Annabelle, et al, but definitely something I'm going to look into. It's a solid story when you want to dig deeper. I was sad the movie ended when it did. It zipped by like an episode in a great TV series. If they spun one off, I'd watch the poop out of it.

Good movie, not what I expected which was the wonderful surprise. Good supernatural thriller!

You'll love the ending!
While I could've used more "demon" in my "demonic" horror flick, the revealing of its presence was solid. Well-acted and tied together nicely, this is a fine addition to the horror genre. And so many horror movies want to leave their audiences with the message that all is not well, but this one wrapped it up with triumph and left me willing to watch it again.A very human movie where you care about the family and the detective. not all of the characters were redeemed, and that's enough for me. I like an old-fashioned Hollywood ending.Definitely recommend!!!

Really Good!
Good and consistent to the end. I always hate when horror movies say things about characters like: someone has super human strength, but then a straightjacket or handcuffs hold that character back, some of those little things didn't get overlooked in this movie. Sometimes it's the attention to detail that makes a horror movie great!

Evil is real!
I watched this video after seeing a short interview with the retired police officer who is the main character in this true story. I was curious! I had heard about exorcisms, but this video actually shows you an exorcism. Oh, my God! Anyone who doubts the existence of the devil needs to see this movie and see what evil is and what it does. Unbelievable!!!

Had potential
There are some good ideas in this movie - but the writing and pacing here are the real problem. There is no sense of a story arc, rather this is a pastiche of other films such as se7en, the exorcist etc. The sets and atmosphere are well done - but it just isn't structured or paced well enough to hold interest. The ending is particularly bad as it's devoid of suspense and overly long. Lots of potential - could do with a remake.

'HAS IT'S MOMENT'S'
'Eric Bana' plays NYPD Sergeant 'Ralph Sarchie' who becomes involved in an investigation into a string of crimesthat have little or no explanation.Things get so complex he turns to 'Father Mendoza' (Edgar Ramirez) who has been schooled in the practice ofExorcism, a skill he will indeed need.'Sarchie' begins to realize a link between former Soldiers who had served together during the Iraq War, he has tofind and stop 'Santino' (Sean Harris) who seems to be the central figure in occurrences.Things become personal for the Sergeant when his family are dragged into 'Santino's' frightening world.During the Iraq war after a fire-fight 'Santino' and colleagues had investigated a near-by tunnel, the evil that had beenfound, had followed them back to the U.S.The film has several unpleasant images along the way leading to the climax. One or two 'Jump' moments, though i wouldn't describe the film as scary, however, it does have it's moments.Features -* Deliver us from Demons* The two Sergeants* The Demon Detective* Director's Commentary* Illuminating Evil - Making* Deliver us from Evil

Why is this rated suitable for age 15?
This purports to be a true story. It was awesome. For me Eric Bana was a bit flat, however, the rest of the cast made up for it. The priest and the possessed were amazing. It was dark and spooky and kept me alert. If I fall asleep at a film, it is a sure sign that it is a flop. This was not. The exorcism scene was outstanding. This is one of the best films I have seen in a while and I am glad I bought it. Definitely not for children.

Not sure how true it is, but a cracking film nevertheless.
I have been waiting to see this film since I saw it advertised last year and wasn't disappointed. It is up there with the best of the horror films in the last few years and my second favourite exorcism film behind The Exorcist. It has great performances from Eric Bana and Sean Harris. I also work in a zoo environment so the opening scenes in the Bronx zoo with the lions freaked me out.A must see, and supposedly based on true events.

Highly recommend
This has one of the best exorcism scenes in any horror move, it's worth watching just for that scene, based on a true story its very good, excellent acting and the actor who plays the possed huy is so creapy. Watch this is a real go one.
