Great for flight sims
I took a gamble on this device to use with MSFS 2024. Flight simulators have hundreds of commands that can be assigned a key on a keyboard. But a full size keyboard is too big. This device also has a track pad, scroll roller, volume controls, and so much more. I designed and 3d printed a system that works with the Thrustmaster Hotas set up and together this is a very nice compact setup. It can sit on a desk, my lap, or even a keyboard drawer. This mini keyboard really does a great job and makes Sim flying fun again!

Perfect Mini Keyboard for My HTPC Setup
The Rii X8 Mini Keyboard has been a fantastic addition to my HTPC. Itโs compact, lightweight, and incredibly convenient for navigating from the couch. The wireless connection is stable with no lag, and the builtโin touchpad makes it easy to control everything without needing a separate mouse. The RGB backlighting is great for nighttime use, and the keys feel responsive despite the small size. The rechargeable battery lasts a long time, which is perfect for a livingโroom setup where I donโt want to constantly plug things in. For controlling an HTPC, this little keyboard does exactly what I need โ simple, reliable, and comfortable to use. A great buy.

Edited review - was bad, now good
I have been using these for a while now. About a year. I went to exchange the one that wasnโt working when it started to work again. But I had already requested a replacement. I kept both and had to pay for the second one and thatโs fine. So the devices are great, but they are weird. They will work perfectly for a long time and then one will stop working for about 3 days. Then I swap to the other one during that time. I think it may be a moisture issue. If you look at the touchpad on both, the circuit board is slightly exposed on the right side. What I believe is happening is moisture is getting in and temporarily shorting it out, but once it is dry, it works perfectly again. It stays charged for a long time and doesnโt take long to charge. 1 night of charge gets me about a month of use. I havenโt had to swap to the other one in about 6-8 months now. I love these devices, but because of the issue that I mentioned, it is impossible to give it five stars. If they can fix that issue on the next iteration of this keyboard, I will easily give it five stars. Itโs not laggy, all of the buttons feel great, I can type fairly quick with it. Everything else about this handheld keyboard is perfect. It has its own FN key and those functions are really helpful. Oh no, my app froze. I need to open the task manager. Easy. Hold FN then press Enter. If you choose to get one of these, you wonโt be disappointed. But if you run into the issue that I have, I suggest just having one as a backup. Both of mine will do this, but like I said, itโs been almost 8 months since the last time I had this issue. Get it. Old review: Today is day 9 of owning this device. I owned one of the older models of the Rii and it was an absolutely fantastic device. I bought this one as a replacement and it worked like a charm at first. Now the right half of the touchpad doesnโt work. You can actually look down into the right side of the touchpad and see the pcb and gridded pcb pads that look like they should have been under the touchpad. Even the left side isnโt working great now though. Its spotty to use until I figure out how to get a replacement. I really wanted to love this device because it was fantastic at first. But I canโt even get 2 weeks before the product stops functioning properly? I hope this one is just a lemon and that the next one works better, but seeing that I can now no longer use it. 1 star.

Invaluable upgrade to CNC machine
I've just built this cnc machine and I keep looking for improvements. One huge upgrade was to install a standalone windows 11 pro computer system. Now I can design something in Fusion 360, put it into my Vectric software to develop the gcode program, all on my laptop. I send the completed gcode program to the cnc computer via Bluetooth or wifi. I run the program completely on the cnc computer system. I'm using a used mini desktop HP computer, with a new 7" monitor (no touchscreen). The Rii handheld keyboard is how I run the entire cnc system. The computer system runs windows 11 pro, just like any other windows computer. I only keep the program that runs my cnc, and the completed gcode files on the cnc computer. I have 2 laptops, one in the shop, and one in the living room, where I can work on fusion and vectric files. I send the vectric gcode files directly to the cnc computer by either wifi or Bluetooth from either laptop. I had a similar handheld keyboard, which would get irratic at times, so I sent it back to Amazon and went bought the Rii. I've not had one problem using the Rii. I completely control the CNC and run software with it. The entire computer system, including the Rii keyboard cost less than $100. It's worth every penny, and then some, not to be tethered to a laptop. I tripped over the usb parallel cable between my cnc and laptop, sending my laptop hard onto the concrete floor, and disconnecting it while the cnc was running, ruining the job. Luckily I have a very sturdy HP 840 elitebook, built for abuse, which survived the fall. I can leave the cnc running while I leave the room to do other things and not worry. It's on an old microwave cabinet on wheels, so the entire machine can be pushed out of the way. The machine starts when I run the gcode program, then parks and turns off when the program completes. As a woman with small hands, I've found the Rii easy to hold and use. It's not awkward at all. I also have a small, rectangular mini keyboard, but kept dropping it. It was too long for me to maneuver. I have arthritis and problems in my hands from building guitars over the years. I also have early onset Parkinsons. So, I've dropped the Rii a couple of times. The build quality is great and there are no chips or breaks. The Rii has never dropped a connection. I really don't even think about it. I switch it on and the connection is immediate. It'll go into a power save mode and turn off when not used. I just hit escape, the space bar, or enter, and it immediately comes back on, connected. It's never searched for a connection after going to sleep, like many keyboards. I've installed a multiplug ac surge suppressor, which includes USB plugs as well as grounded plugs. Everything on the cnc is plugged into it. I keep a mini USB cord plugged in and when I'm done with the controller, I just plug it in, then store the controller on the cnc table or in the drawer for use next time.

Great Product for HTPC or Likewise Computers
Absolutely love the thing. Bought this for use with my HTPC and it does the job perfectly. The track pad works great, and while I hate track pads, it's much better than having to have somewhere to put a mouse and the room to move it around. The scroll wheel functions just like a normal scroll wheel on a mouse, and has a "middle click" button. The volume buttons are an awesome convenience. The connection is solid and I haven't had a problem with it whatsoever as well. The RGB is either the rainbow effect (it doesn't move or flash) or other solid colors you can choose from; not much customization, but that's not what I bought it for, and shouldn't be what you buy it for either. The brightness of the keys is great in a completely dark room which I do use it in. It's super lightweight, easy to use, and fits in the palm of your hand. The keys feel as nice as they can for a device of this price and size; you're not meant to be typing essays on this of course anyways. Also very impressed to learn that the battery is removable when it arrived! So if the battery dies, no need to throw the whole unit away, just buy a new battery. It also charges via USB-C which is very nice, and does come with a short cable if you don't have one. I will definitely buy another one when I'm in need of a small control device for a PC like this.

Cheap but works enough
The best thing I can say is that it works, but it doesn't work well. The touchpad is finicky and not that sensitive, feels rough, and just really doesn't work well. Backlight shuts off very quick and you have to push a button to get it back and tapping the touchpad does not turn it on so you'll be fumbling with it in the dark not 100% sure which button your pressing. Feels very cheap and flimsy. Also will disconnect randomly while using the dongle. Honestly, just annoying to use but at least it works. If you want to navigate to put a movie on while away from the keyboard, sure.

"Your pocket-sized command centerโwith gamer swagger."
๐ Size: 5.8 x 3.8 x 0.6 in โ๏ธ Weight: ~5.3 oz ๐ Battery Life: ~3โ5 days per charge ๐ Connection: 2.4GHz USB Dongle (plug & play) --- โ Objective: This isnโt just a noveltyโitโs a fully functional keyboard and trackpad in one palm-sized unit. The 2.4GHz connection is rock solid with zero noticeable lag. RGB lighting offers multiple color modes. Keys are tactile, the touchpad is surprisingly responsive, and the built-in multimedia hotkeys are perfect for home theater control. --- ๐ญ Subjective: For gamers: Donโt expect full-size performance, but for Steam Big Picture or quick console nav, it just works. Could be more responsive
Edit 2: The scroll wheel died this morning. Never buying a Rii product ever again. This review started as a 4 star and has progressively fallen as I have more time with this poorly made product. Must have just gotten lucky with the other model I had that I loved. edit: after a longer time with the unit I'm still struggling with connection issues. It hiccups and reconnects every time I use the device, and yesterday I lost all touch pad control until I unplugged then plugged in the unit. Lowered from to 3 stars. Sometimes it will skip typing whole words or just repeat the last letter typed. Some features not as good as the i8, but still very good. Most of my critiques are because I have 5 years using the older model and have yet to get used to the new keyboard even after a few weeks of use. First and foremost, the wireless radio in the X8 is not as good as the previous model. It always misses double letters or spaces if you type a little fast. The touch pad sometimes struggles to register input and is occasionally sluggish, seemingly due to a weaker reception (anything more than ~4ft gets a bit slow sometimes) . The range of the device seems lower than the i8. I miss the dedicated media controls and right/left click locations. The scroll wheel is very high quality and has a middle mouse button click, but I find it not placed very ergonomically, and I find myself using the touchpad to scroll most of the time (works great) I also preferred the keyboard layout of the previous model, with f keys and a delete button. The larger keys and offset layout of the X8 is good, I just wish fewer functions were hidden behind the function key. There are many improvements and features that I really love about this keyboard. The USB-C charging and easily removable battery are top tier features. My older i8 (purchased ~2019) does not hold charge for more than a day and a half of use anymore, and replacing the battery is less intuitive. The X8 has a standard rechargeable battery that's easy to find replacements for, so in terms of longevity (over 5 years), the X8 is easier to maintain long term. The RGB settings are cool (I keep mine all red) Battery life is great, we use this keyboard every day for light browsing tasks and I charge it about twice a week. Overall, if it were more or as responsive as the i8, this would be a 5 star product. In using this keyboard to write the very review you have just read, I encountered issues with registering double letters, and spaces if I typed too fast. However, the quality is good, and I recommend this for media centers or light browsing.
