Pleased with the sound and set up.
This device really does solve the problem of connecting a modern TV with HDMI/ARC to a standard room stereo. Sound is excellent. It is important to use the device's "off" switch when not using the stereo for the TV sound, because the TV electronics recognize something is connected to HDMI/ARC and switch off the TV's internal speakers automatically.

Does not respond to source volume changes
Sound conversion quality is good and I like that it has both optical digital and analog RCA outputs. However this device fails to change its output levels in response to volume changes made on the HDMI ARC source device. Bottom line: if you're connecting this to the HDMI ARC socket of your TV, you can't use your TV remote control to change output volume.

Had problems at first, but now works fine!
Originally, unit worked only with cable TV, but for Netflix, Amazon, or YouTube (all working through WiFi). Just got nasty noise! Went into TV Sound options, and was able to pick the right sound output to get this device to work. Now it works for Cable, WiFi, and DVD Player.

Works Great and is easy to set-up.
I received my audio extractor within two days of ordering it. The instructions were easy to follow. In my case, I am using the 2-channel mode with red and white (L&R) RCA connections. Everything sounds great coming through my 20 year old Kenwood AV receiver. I couldn’t be more pleased with this product.
