PS3 Firmware problem FIXED!
PROS: Nice build quality, good customer service, charges off of ps3 (cable is same mini usb and included) or can use 3AAsCONS: Dongle did need to be replaced, but NYKO will do it for free.I purchased two of these just before Christmas because they were so cheap (prices were less than 25 bucks) and my other two guitars (stock GH3 and stock RB1) stopped working. I figured that if anything I could just return them or at worst I wouldn't lose much money trying them out. I knew going into the purchase that there had been a PS3 firmware update that rendered the guitars useless (I think it had something to do with the wireless pairing sequence). I read another review that stated that the guitar wireless dongle could be replaced for free from NYKO and that after the problem was fixed. So, I sent an email to NYKO asking whether they had a fix and what it would take to get it. They replied very quickly (within 2 hours) and said that yes there was a fix and that If I could give them my address they would be happy to ship two of the dongles out to me for free. I was a little relieved after hearing this and then ordered the two guitars.I got both promptly and in good shipping shape (though one was in a massive over sized box). NYKO was very nice on the phone and shipped them to me promptly. I can say that both of the new dongles work with both Rockband and Guitar Hero and I am very impressed with their build quality. I had thought that NYKO made some pretty cheap video game accessories but both of these guitars seem well made and relatively compact. Overall I am very happy with my purchase and will definitely use NYKO again in the future.

BAD PRODUCT, PLEASE READ REVIEW
OK so i bought this product online for 36.38. I bought this product for ROCK BAND 2 for the PS3 console. My anticipation was really high, couldnt wait to use this product. Problem 1...It took almost 3 WEEKS for the product to finally come, and all that time, CUSTOMER SERVICE was horrible. They always put me on hold and never gave me an exact date for the product to arrive. Ok for the product now.....The guitar looks so UNREALISTIC, and weighs less than 5 pounds. Just looking at it from 10 feet away looks so UNREALISTIC. When i tried to sync and establish a connection with both the foot pedal and the guitar didn't work, because the man at customer service told me that i should press the nyko button consecutive times so it could sync. When that was accomplished, I noticed that the foot pedal adapter kept on triggering the green button without me even pressing it. And thats what it kept on doing. I disconnected the guitar and even took off the batteries and it continued do that. I knew that either the adapter was defected or it just wasnt compatible for ROCK BAND 2. THat was my problem...THis product is SUCKS for the price. I sent it back and was reimbursed with my money. Its best you pay 69.99 for an official wireless guitar because these independent companies are just oPlayStation 3 FrontMan Wireless Guitar - White

Firmware 3.10 makes using this guitar more of a challenge here's a way to make it work
I got this guitar as a cheap option to be able to add a second guitar to GH3 and Rockband. I bought it for $9.99 which seemed like a real steal. After getting it I saw all the reviews from people how fireware 3.10 made the guitar useless. I just got the guitar today. At first I couldn't get the thing to work, then after some dumb luck it worked for Rockband. My wife wanted to play some GH3 so I went to change to GH3 (instructions say you need to restart your PS3 for it to connect....total lie). When I did it, it didn't work. After some searching online I found out that someone else was able to get it to work. THIS IS HOW I AM ABLE TO MAKE IT WORK:1. You need 3 other controllers besides the Nyko guitar (they can be the rockband instrument set, or just any PS3 controllers. I used a DS3 a RB guitar and GH3 guitar)2. You need all 3 of the controllers assigned to the PS3 taking up spot 1-3 except the Nyko guitar (goal is to assign the Nyko to 4 or higher)3. Plug in the Nyko dongle and attempt to link with the guitar (it will most likely make the Nyko button turn red which is the color that won't play)4. Turn the switch on the dongle back and forth once or twice ending on GH setting letting the guitar link on it's own (It may not assign correctly on the first try, but keep switching between Rockband setting and GH setting. Always end on GH, because it will work with Rockband on GH setting)5. After a few times it should link and allow you to playObviously this option isn't something that everyone wants to put up with, but for $10 it'll work fine for my uses. Hopefully my instructions will help ppl that either want to keep the guitar or can't return it for a refund. The guitar works well after tricking it into linking. I can't buy a guitar for $10 that will work on both GH3 and RB so this guitar is a winner in that regard.************Buyer beware if you expect this product to link automatically as advertised. Sony has stated they will not do anything to enable it to work and Nyko has a statement out that they are working on a solution, but who knows when or if they will deliver one.

Works ok. Cheap buttons, but for 15 bucks I guess it's worth it. If I was to buy again I would spend the extra to get a better model!

Make sure you use this with a powered USB hub or plug it directly into the PS3
I've experienced many of the wireless connectivity issues described in these reviews, but I found that if I make sure I use a powered USB hub or, better yet, only plug the transceiver directly into the PS3, the wireless connectivity is 100% reliable. I believe this transceiver uses more power due to the dual-mode design (GH & RB) and the flashing LEDs. Hence, it won't work reliably with a non-powered hub.
