Pretty good, but not great.
It is a good instrument. However, it lacks the impact that the larger one does and it does not last as long when you make it sound louder. As you loosen the nut and turn the bell where the vibration lives, you can change the sonority of the vibration. It is pretty good for a fact but any performance situation, you would be better off with the larger one.

Snakes are rattling!
I’ve always loved the rattle this instrument makes. Especially on “Crazy Train” by Black Sabbath!

Very fun and sounds great
This is a very fun percussion to add to your percussions it sounds great the only down-fall is it doesn't have a long sustain unless you learn where and how to hit it but once you figure it out it sounds awesome. I use a mic. with it and you can use it as a block with stick/cowbell sound.

So that's how you make that sound...
I bought this as a gift, but I did get to play with it for a couple of minutes and it works great. Now I know how they make that sound I've so often heard in movies and tv shows. I am considering buying one for myself to add some sound effects to my everyday interactions with others.
