He does at times point to hermeticism, gnosticism and buddhism (again, amongst others) to highlight the points he's making but does not rely too heavily on any one, leaving it to the reader to draw their own conclusions. This is exactly what I was looking for. This is a strange area, with a lot of people imposing their beliefs on what they think this experience is. I feel this often clouds the water somewhat. After having read Eckhart Tolle's books a decade ago, I have been on my own spiritual journey and it has brought me to this book. With Gene's gentle, compassionate guidance, clearly laid out and expressed, I now feel able and informed to approach astral projection with an open heart and mind. I find Gene's written voice to be soothing and have felt very present while reading this book.
