Best price for Damar I've ever seen.
Though they advertise this damar resin as being good for encaustic painting (I'm sure it is), I'm using it for my oil paints, which also involves heating the resin with linseed or walnut oil.You can also use the resin for MAKING your own damar varnish, though I also recommend against using turpentine. A great substitute for turpentine (with MUCH lower toxicity and the smell is more pleasant in my opinion) is D-Limonene, which is just as effective as turpentine for the purposes of painting. Drop the resin in a fine mesh bag, drop it in to a jar full of D-limonene, then let it sit for a few days. Any solids remaining will stay in the bag. You'll get WAY higher quality varnish (as the damar varnish you can buy is WAYYY too thinned out, and they usually use turpentine as the thinner).Anyhow, aside from all this goodness: GREAT price, I'm used to paying this much for a much smaller amount from an art supply store. Can't wait to get this to my studio tomorrow!Other great uses for this damar resin: Boil with stand oil, makes for a great impasto medium (Non-toxic, unlike synthetic impasto media like Liquin). Heated with walnut oil (and thinned out with d-limonene) makes a great wood finish.

Review for Damar resin
I love the resealable sturdy bag that the Damar Resin comes in! When I startedusing the resin for making encaustics, I used my hammer on the floor andwhacked the resin to break it up. This worked somewhat, but what I finallydid was repurpose my coffee grinder(cleaned it up) to use to grind up theresin. When finely ground it melts very quickly in the wax! I hope thatothers can use this tip.I will only buy this Damar resin, I am very happy with it.Yolanda Welch

Great stuff
Haven't used it yet but the only thing to go wrong would be my use of it. New to encaustic and waiting to get it all together.
