This is a really good Megadeth CD. If one is not familiar with them, this is a good CD to introduce one to them. I recommend this CD ! A good listen! Enjoy listening to it!

Megadeth's "ICON" compilation is both simultaneously essential for complete novices, and woefully redundant since these exact same tracks have already appeared in 2005's excellent "Back to the Start" compilation. Happily, unlike so many other Universal Music Enterprises "ICON" releases, some actual thought seems to have gone into the album artwork and track listing, ensuring that what's presented here are nothing less than essential tracks from the band's Capitol Records years. Moreover, this one seems to contain original, pre-2004 mixes of tracks from "Rust In Peace", "Peace Sells... but Who's Buying?" and many other Megadeth classics.If you can pick it up here, or elsewhere, for a fiver (or less), "ICON: Megadeth" provides a decent mini-introduction and a good, but not great, jumping-off point to get into one of Metal's greatest, most inventive and downright musical bands.Otherwise, just get the  Megadeth - Greatest Hits  compilation instead.

A good selection of songs but for some reason "Skin O' My Teeth" is the 2004 remixed version. All the other tracks are the versions as they appeared on the original albums. No "Train of Consequences" either. Skip it and get "Capitol Punishment" instead.

To date, this will be Megadeth's fourth greatest hits collection in the last 14 years. As if the frequency with which these stupid collections are released isn't bad enough, this Icon collection doesn't even bother to offer anything you can't find on the other three existing greatest hits. The Icon tracklist:01. Holy Wars...The Punishment Due02. Symphony Of Destruction03. Wake Up Dead04. Trust05. Hangar 1806. Sweating Bullets07. A Tout Le Monde08. Skin O' My Teeth09. In My Darkest Hour10. Kill The King11. Peace SellsAll but two of these songs ("Wake Up Dead" and "Skin O' My Teeth") also appear on  Capitol Punishment: The Megadeth Years  (2000), a collection that includes three more songs than Icon, and every single one of them appears on the 17-track  Greatest Hits  (2005). Obviously, all of the Icon cuts are featured on Megadeth's 2-disc  Anthology: Set The World Afire  (2008) as well.In essence, there's no rational reason to buy the Icon collection unless you're just now testing the Megadeth waters for the first time. Even then, you'd be better off purchasing one of the other aforementioned greatest hits collections because they all contain more songs than this one at a comparable price. Icon is a stupid release with no appeal to established Megadeth fans. There's nothing to see here, folks. Move along.
