structurally sound, straight forward install, great value for the money
This is our second safe racks system. Installed a 4'x8' adjustable ceiling shelf in our garage about ten years ago and it has worked flawlessly. Just purchased a 3'x8' adjustable providing an additional 90cu.ft. of storage space overhead. The 45" height will allow you to stack two Costco black/yellow lid storage bins, just pay attention to the weight limits of the shelf. The angle brackets are heavy-duty steel and mount from two ceiling joists when installed in an orientation perpendicular to the joists. The powder coated gloss white finish gives the garage a clean, bright look. And the finish lasts, my ten year old shelf still looks brand new. The rack has some minor improvements from our previous shelf, mostly with the hardware, but functionally its identical. Nothing to improve upon really. For the price it cannot be beat: functional, safe, aesthetic, and competitively priced. They even throw in some hook accessories to get you started. We also have a wall slat system in our garage and I was looking at extended that but it can get costly quick. This was a nice alternative.

One-person installation. Pretty easy.
I've helped my son-in-law install a different brand rack system that required 2 people (at least) because the rack had to be assembled on the ground and then lifted in place and hung on the vertical supports. The design of this rack is such that the rack frame is assembled a piece at a time and then the rack surface (? grate?) is laid over the frame. The up side of this is you can easily install it all yourself. The down side, if any, is that the rack doesn't feel as solid as the other model, only because the rack bits can move a bit. Has no impact on the strength of the system because other than holding your stuff, the racks aren't structural. Recommended.

Great racks, takes some work to install them
This is the second rack I have installed in about 5 years in 2 different houses. The hardest and most time consuming part is locating the studs in the ceiling. I was lucky to have drywall tape and screws to give me a good idea where mine were, but even that was not foolproof, and I did a lot of tapping into the drywall with a very thin rod to make sure I had my centers. I used the advice from another reviewer and used a different drill bit than what the manufacturer recommended and the bolts went in fine. The instructions, while better than they were a few years ago, continue to need work, with unclear photos. I followed the spacing measurements given between the brackets, but turned out I bolted one set of the top rails in the wrong studs. In the end, the down rails were not centered in the top rails, but at the ends, which would not provide the best support. Moving 2 of the the top rails over by a few inches solved the problem. Overall, the racks are solid, good quality, and a bargain if you don't mind putting in the work. It took me 6 hours to install mine, not including fixing my mistake. I lower these to almost the lowest setting and can stack 2 to 3 bins high depending on the size of the bins. At the lowest setting I could also hang 5 bikes from the front tires underneath.

Love this product!
We installed these racks in my garage and what a difference they make! My garage is more organized, it allows me to store more stuff without taking away space on the garage floor. Highly recommend them is organization is your thing.

Better than hoped for
Very strong and sturdy. Much better item than the price would indicate and on par with similar items costing considerably more. Excellent and detailed installation instructions. Straight forward installation but a little time consuming. Those not adept at working with tools and doing projects such as this might find installation somewhat challenging, Manufacturer must have taken the comments about missing pieces to heart, as there were several extra bolts/washers/nuts included.

SafeRacks 3x8 Review
The is a review of the SafeRaCKS 3X8 Overhead Storage rack system. As you can see it allows you to get your stuff off of the floor. Packaging for shipment is an issue. Scratches are cosmetic and there was no structural damage. Assembly and installation is OK if you can follow instructions. Measurements are critical to success and the documentation online in PDF form is better than what is shipped. Just make sure you are following instructions for the 'size' rack ordered. Use a quality stud finder. I installed by myself, it would be easier with a partner.

Buy the SafeRack system, you'll be happier in the long run
I have installed 3 of these Saferack systems now. I have two 4x8 and one 3x8 rack installed. These are easy to install by yourself, very strong and sturdy and very nicely engineered. They can be installed either parallel to the joists or perpendicular to the joists with no trouble.I ordered a FlexiMount 3x6 rack by accident and was very disappointed with those. They are not nearly as strong and require more supports which limits usability. Also, I had to go buy new angle irons because the Fleximounts are engineered to be installed parallel with the joists only and this was not an option for me. I really saw a huge difference in the products and the SafeRacks are stronger, easier to install and are better for the long run. Well worth the difference in price.
