Product Description Bish's Original Tear Mender Instant Fabric and Leather Adhesive utilizes a powerful formula, the quick drying adhesive instantly adheres to any material it can penetrate, forming a waterproof bond strong enough for use on work clothes, awnings, tents, boat covers, tarps, leather, convertible tops, and more. Features: water-proof, permanent, quick-dry, flexible, UV resistant and acid-free. From the Manufacturer Val “The Bish” Cismoski originally formulated Tear Mender in 1932. His nickname was a result of his imposing physical presence and his knack for having an answer to any and all questions which family members said reminded them of a Bishop. Tear Mender’s impenetrable bond quickly made it a staple in the farm industry and was used to repair canvas drive belts for farm machinery. Today, Tear Mender continues to provide the same flexible, permanent bond and is widely used for a multitude of tasks from garment care to crafts. In 2015, Lighthouse for the Blind, a 501(c)3 non-profit, acquired the assets of Tear Mender to further grow their mission of providing employment for individuals who are blind. Ironworkers are tough. They play hard and work hard. And instead of buying a new pair of Levi’s every week he would patch hisLevi’s and in winter months when he was out on the 4 inch beams, 350 feet in the air with the wind in the snow added patches warmth to his legs to stay warmer during the day by the end of the year his Levi’s were half inch thick after thousands of washes after actually trying to rip the patches off my hand myself, it was virtually impossible This stuff has got more adhesion then if it were welded on steel.. that being a bonus and a negative. If you ever have to remove something, the only thing I would have to say that is a downfall about this product is that it is a little bit higher price point than Id ideally like to pay but with that being said it’s worth it weight in Gold . Second downfall coming from a woman’s perspective it’s very saturating. I would like to have a fabric glue that is just as strong as this, but not as saturating. You can’t put this on lace. Don’t even try some sheer curtains. I’ve ruined many dresses and drapes over the stuff it’s really meant for work clothes, canvas, leather saddle bags, carpet repair, but not for the girly things. If only they had a glue that was as strong as this stuff, but still dainty for women’s materials, so it’s very saturating.. The stuff is great for household repairs, canvas, leather for carpet repairs, leather furniture, leather, saddle bags for motorcycle jacket canvas canvas tents, rugs, we’re closed for the hubby, any type of thicker material and repairs. It works really well for. Don’t put it on your little black dress with lace you’ll ruin the dress. This is a glue for men and industrial or heavier material items. I guess us girls are just gonna have to stick to the needle and thread. I hide my bottle from my husband I’d never have any of this stuff. lol
Review: Critical review - So as far as I am concerned this is the best adhesive you can buy. You are supporting not only an American company you are also supporting a wonderful cause that helps people when you purchase this product. Works as it says for everything it will do I have nothing bad to say. Many reviews I have read that say it is not strong or didn't work. In these negative reviews look at how they used it and you can tell that some common sense might be lacking. I have used this on everything from sewing projects to a gasket adhesive and it works. It is stretchy and rubbery when fully cured. When fully cured it will not wash out of material in the washer and will survive a dryer. Wear nitrile gloves and have a wet washcloth when using this product to wipe away spills or excess. Application with a brush works or just use little drops where you need it. Keep it off your skin it is a pain to wash off. If you have a latex allergy be careful with this adhesive on your bare skin. Once this is cured which doesn't take long it is extremely strong. I sometimes cheat and use an iron or heat gun to speed things up. Temperatures over 70° or a hot summers day it will cure very fast. After 24 hours it is fully cured if you use a lot especially on a big patch job on a canvas tarp or something heavy duty. This is what I use to a lot to hold material in place for sewing. I wish they made this product in a aerosol can to spray onto materials. Works great for foam. Quilter's and upholstery shops should love using this product. Use sparingly a little bit goes a long way. After keep everything clean wipe top, wipe bottle, rinse/clean tip, and place a piece of plastic wrap underneath lid to keep the air out so it doesn't solidify in the bottle. As long as it doesn't freeze or solidify it should last a very long time. I haven't found another water based adhesive that is better.
