Tektro Winora RL340 Aero Brake Lever Pair Black

These are short pull brake levers, for center pull, side pull, etc brakes. If you have V brakes you will need long pull levers (Tektro makes a pair identical to this in long pull). Make sure you are ordering the right pair. I was very impressed with these brake levers. I have been using them for 7 months regularly. They wider than older style levers and much more comfortable. The rubber is thick and sturdy. The black finish looks great and has held up very well. The return spring is tight with no play. They look great, work great, and have held up very well. I prefer these levers to the older (thinner) style of road levers (including good levers such as Shimano 105, Ultegra, etc.) I'm sure they are heavier than higher end levers, but if you don't care about shaving off a few grams of weight and want a well priced pair of levers that don't look or feel cheap, these are an excellent buy.

Someone at Tektro really studied human hands and designed brake levers that feel just right and give your braking power and control. I was restoring vintage Miyata 10 speed and these levers (with new cable set from Jagwire) make the bike feel like brand new high end model. Hoods are very comfortable. Levers are shaped in a wonderful and complex way. The fingers fit just right. The stock picture hardly shows how it is shaped. I am adding my own picture (although in only available bad light) trying to show proportions and shape. Being one of the cheapest in the marked these are probably the best. When installing I ran into the problem trying to put the cable through. After a while I figured out that if I shine a light from the other side the hole for the cable is much easier to locate. This is a product was designed by someone who took his job as an art form and produced with quality materials. Buy with confidence, these are as good or better as any high end lever. For installation make sure you have set of long hex wrenches, I believe it was no 5. No need for fancy bike tool (multi tool is too short for the job), find it in local hardware shop for not too much. Will be buying another pair for my sons bike.

MUCH better than the cheap "aero" levers/hoods on my entry-level Merax Finiss road bike. I'm still using the original brakes and these somehow give me more braking power which really surprised me. The only thing I was expecting from these was more comfort and I definitely got that too. There are wide enough to not cause big spikes in pressure in one small part of your hand while also having enough of an incline at the end where there's no chance of your hands slipping off the front of them. The actual brake levers themselves are very ergonomic and I can actually stop with them while my hands are on the hoods where I couldn't with my stock hoods/levers. These are definitely easier to reach from the drops as well and provide as much braking power as you can apply with them. The entire pull is great and I'm never uncomfortable or having to force anything at any point during the pull. These looks a lot better too. Overall, I'd completely recommend them to anyone wanting to replace cheap levers or add brake only levers to a fixie bike. Even though these were only $16 at the time of purchase, I'd have bought them for $30.

I was fixing up an old 80s 10-speed bike that we had lying around. It had the old style suicide levers (aka turkey wing, dual-lever). I changed pads and adjusted the brake calipers but they didn't provide enough clamping force. They will squeal for mercy when coming to a stop. I was thinking I would need to replace everything. I ordered the RL340s along with new Jagwire brake cables and hooked them up to the original 80s calipers. Wow! What a difference. Clamping force is superb! I no longer get the squealing like I used to. They stop extremely well and the brake feel is excellent. I hated to "ride the hoods" on my old brakes because they were steel and not ergonomic. These have a nice rubber hood and are wide enough to feel comfortable. I no longer feel I need to buy new expensive calipers. Installation was a breeze, especially for a newbie like me. If you're trying to figure out which one is right or left just look on the inside, they're marked. If you're in a position like me and just want to upgrade a beater 80s bike then give these a try before upgrading the whole system.

I've bought 3 pairs of these levers over the last several years. The hoods are nice and broad, very comfortable, similar in shape to Shimano levers. The most recent pair I obtained seems to have a bit more of a grippy texture molded into the rubber of the hoods. I also like the way the levers flare out to the sides a bit. They have a quick release button, which is helpful because not all brake calipers have a QR built into them. The only problem I've had with any of them is the return spring in one lever broke after several years of use. It flopped around and stabbed at my finger for a while until I glued it up out of the way inside the lever. The tension of the brake calipers was plenty of return tension so it was not a big deal.

Paired these off with a set of Campagnolo Chorus brakes on a fixed gear bike. Good strength on the return springs. Good modulation on the brake lever throw. The hoods fit your hands well. They are substantial feeling and the rubber/silica blended material is thick and solid. They come with the quick release pins you need for Campagnolo brakesets since they have eliminated the QR on their brake calipers. Installation is straightforward and easy. A set of longer hex keys will not go missing, though I was able to install them with a standard set.

I've built tons of single speed and fixed gear bikes and I buy these lever every time. They are priced right, they are right at the quality they need to be, and the design is very good. Really, unless you're building a high dollar single speed or fixed gear bike and want to go all out, these will do just fine every time. I would recommend these.

UPDATE 9/10/2013 The brake levers are holding up just fine, they have a tendency to loosen if you don't really get them super tight. That is the only issue I have been encountering but once you get them on tight, they wont loosen up. One thing I forgot to mention that also annoyed me, you have to remove the cable to loosen or tighten them, this can become quite tedious. UPDATE I have used these brake levers roughly 300 miles and have not had and mechanical issues. My only criticism is that they can loosen up as they begin to break in. Be sure to check that they are tight and snug otherwise you may inadvertently loosen them. They are nice upgrade from older brake levers and you can even rest your hands on top giving you a new comfortable hand position. I am happy with this purchase.

Excellent value brake levers for a singlespeed or fixie. Light to use with great modulation. I bought them to replace my inline levers following a wrist fracture. Very comfortable hoods too. Highly recommended!

Manetas sencillas para instalar en discos de pinza, en mi caso unos shimano ultegra. Necesitaba unas manetas que me permitieran actualizar las antiguas de mi Speria y con estas no he tenido ningún problema, tanto la palanca como la goma son de buena calidad e incorporan un botón que permite abrir más las pinzas para poder extraer la rueda. Compra recomendada.
