Women's blow dryer require more than 1000W to operate with heat on. The good ones are on the 2000W range. Once you start blowing with heat you will eventually burn the fuse. You have to use a step up transformer with the appropriate rating. Unfortunately, any step up transformer of 1000W and above I have seen are massive (like 10lbs). By chance I have one 1000W and another 1500W. I use the second for my European expresso machine and works fine. I tried one 1850W blow dryer on both and the difference is noticeable and even in the big one it is not like it used to be in Singapore @ 220V outlet. It worked flawlessly to the day after I charged it on this new step-up converter. Before I used this charger, I measured the output voltage using my multi-meter, and it read 230v. Then, I plugged my Razor into it, the green light on my razor turned on, and everything seemed to be working properly. About a few minutes later, I heard a buzzing sound and noticed that the converter made weird noises. The light on the razor was suddenly off after that, and some terrible burning smell came out from my razor. Now, my beloved Razor is dead thanks to this good-looking and seemingly well-made converter.
