I think this is a really comprehensive look at spells and spellcasting. The book itself is aesthetically pleasing. Alexander breaks things down and gives modern witches the tools they need to build their own spell practice.

Skye Alexander is a wonderful easy to read and understand author, If you are looking for a guide to start with if you are just starting out as a witch or just learning about the craft I highly recommend her books. That being said, the shape of the book is in leaves me a bit sad as I have wanted this and the rest of her books for a long time. I bought it used and was disappointed, which is not normal for my buys off here. Some wear is always expected when you buy used and we all know that but the cover is dirty, the sides worn there are stickers on it. The markings on the pages are readable but distracting. So as for used I am not happy about it and will have to buy a new one. So this is not a bad thing about the contents of the book, this is about the shape of book I received. :(

After reading Toil and Trouble, I decided to read up on witchcraft. If you have any interest in learning about witchcraft, this is the only book you will need (I did look through several others). So happy I chose this book! Love that it is hardcover; love the paper used in the pages of the book, very pleasing on both counts, if you are a tactile person. Most importantly, VERY thorough and well written with clear, easy explanations on EVERYTHING. Just so much excellent information!

It explains the why of many questions I had. Author takes the time to introduce you to how things work, but this book is better accompanied by the book before this one titled The Modern Guide to Witchcraft since in the first one she covers subject that aren't expanded on in this book. This one book will guide you through understanding how to craft your own spells, as well as provide an open grimoire in the back, very useful if you're a new practitioner, but an intermediate or advanced might not benefit from this.

Not what I have expected!!! The cover of the book is beautiful but the spells written on this book is not that interested!!!
