Timberland Men's White Ledge Mid Waterproof Hiking Boots

Ok, I'll admit it: I'm a bit of a shoe / boot hog. I have about as many pairs as my girlfriend, mother and sister combined (but no high heels!). I like to switch it up day to day or my feet will be way too uncomfortable. Or at least I did. I've had these boots for just shy of a year, and I've worn these boots just shy of 365 days. I think my other shoes are jealous. These fit perfectly, and they are the most comfortable boots I have ever worn (and again, that's a lot of boots!). I normally wear a size 9.5 boot, but I ordered these in a size 10 in hopes I would have room to add a Dr. Scholls insert without making them fit too small, and it was just right. I did wear the boots for a day without the inserts, and they were perfectly comfortable. With the inserts added however, the comfort is exceptional - I recommend the inserts meant for work boots. I'm a college kid on a huge New York campus, so I do a lot of walking on a LOT of hills, on grass, pavement, gravel, snow, ice, wood chips, sand, etc. and these shoes are wonderful on all terrains. My feet don't get cold in the winter either, which is a big plus. At the same time they're not too hot in the summer. I've worn them upstate on a couple day hikes, climbed more than a few massive boulders, taken them to all sorts of state parks and gotten them plenty muddy, walked across shallow streams (nothing deeper than the boot, though), and even explored a small part of the Everglades. I find myself aiming for puddles instead of avoiding them whenever it rains now and I love that my feet stay completely dry! Really, I can't say anything bad about these boots. Admittedly, I was a little apprehensive about the durability of the sole when I first looked at them online. I have a pair of Timberland slip-on shoes with the same sole and I wasn't so sure they would hold up to abuse because the material is relatively soft. The past year has shown me that my worries are far from reality, though, as the boots have taken beating after beating on every terrain New York has to offer, as well as some of Florida! My feet have never been cold, hot, wet, or uncomfortable in any way while wearing these amazing boots. I do treat them with mink oil every few months just as a precaution, but I'm confident that there wouldn't be a negative affect if I skipped a coating or two. I do like that the oil makes them look brand new again though. I apply the oil with my fingers as to not waste any on a rag, and the first time I applied it, my fingers were brown for a day or two from the dies in the leather. The second coating had much less, and the third had almost nothing. Overall these boots are a fantastic partner on or off the trail, or in a classroom. I have boots that are twice and thrice the price of these and they are just as durable and far more comfortable. They're a great deal, but don't get them right away- I notice that the price fluctuates a pretty decent amount. When I added them to my wishlist, they were 85 dollars (size 10) and I bought them when the price went down to 64 dollars. Now I see that the price is back up! These boots are a great deal and now that I know how great they are, I wouldn't hesitate to pay $85 for them, they're worth more than that. But a college kid has to be smart about spending the little money he has - if I spend too much I'll have to sacrifice a limb or two for tuition! So if the price is up, don't worry: these boots are more than worth it. If you're patient and keep an eye on the price though, you may get an even better deal! Either way, you get a great pair of boots for a great price! Happy trails!

Very good boot! This is my 3rd pair, as my first ones that I've been using for about 15 years for and have just been using for yard work for the past several years finally bit the dust. My 2nd pair that I bought about 3 years ago are now my 'work' boots and still use quite often. This latest pair I keep nice and use for going out or to my office when the weather isn't so nice. Oh, and the laces are fantastic - they last the life of the boot. These boots are comfortable and look great!

Love Timberlands! My last pair just like this lasted 5 years. It was busting at the seams so I finally decided to replace it. Surprisingly, I was still working hard and stepping in puddles and my boots after 5 years, ripped at the seams, were STILL waterproof!! After years, these boots were still keeping my feet dry and warm. I drag these through sun, snow, ice, dirt, mud. I feel like they are perfect. I could do better taking care of them (I don’t do leather care like some do, but I bet they’d last longer), but they still do well. I have hiked and they grip well and don’t slip. I also feel like they aren’t too heavy, but I have also been wearing boots for a while so I might be used to that. They are comfortable. I will say, I wear these as a woman who usually wears women’s 9 1/2 wide. But I find these more comfy in Timberlands and a while back I couldn’t find good wide ones, so I’ve been wearing this size and it’s perfect.

If you are buying this get yourself a pair of 0.99c shoelaces the ones they give you will frustrate you. It keeps loosening within 10 steps. Its nuts to have to spend .99c for a $90 pair of boots. This is the second time I am buying these boots the other boots had the same issue. I purchased a dark electric blue color for the laces and it made the boots pop with the all black leather. You can choose any color also I used 48" long laces. The good parts of the boots is a lot of cushion around the ankles and sole has good grip. The tongue is also comfortable with padding. At the same time I had purchased a Timberland Mt. Maddsen Boot that one had zero padding around the ankles and just felt like it was cutting into me I had to return those immediately. I read another review talking about the leather quality between made in china and made in Vietnam. That person commented he liked the Vietnam version because the logo on the tongue but they look the same to me. He also preferred the Vietnam version because he said the quality was better. The first boots I had were made in china. Over time the leather softened but I think even from the beginning it was pliable. The Vietnam version the leather feels stiffer and harder time will tell if that translates to longer lasting finish. I did notice that the leather is a little harder to bend above the toes where it meets the start of the laces and the leather touches the top your toes. Probably over time the leather will soften and not do this. The insoles do not last longer than 6 months when wearing it at least 3 to 4 days a week. I think you would need to swap them for continued comfort. I purchased Timberland ant fatigue pro insoles that I had to trim using the original insoles as a stencil. I didn't get the ones with the extra arch support. They give it an extra bouncy feel to it. I think a little too bouncy and the heel is also a little too raised. But I figure within a month that will go away and feel more normal. Time will tell about the insoles I purchased. I wish the out soles were a little stiffer. I have worn the first pair to several outdoor music festivals where it rained and was muddy my feet remained dry. Better or fresher insoles would be better during those days. Overall it is a good pair of boots.

Great fit. Very comfortable. Would buy again. Do not wear out fast

I had my first pair in 2008, 18 years back. Only now are the heel caps beginning to release their glue and the boots need replacing. The laces haven't shredded, the cushioning hasn't packed down, and the soles have hardly any wear. In 2008, these were $67. Today's price is $139. I hope they haven't changed the quality of the materials. The tongue is very high, holding water back nicely. These are very good boots. They aren't the super-expensive type, but they get the job done. If you oil them down, they'll soften and repel water effectively and protect the leather. I just bought my 2nd pair this week in 2026.

What a boot. These things were made for me. The fit is perfect (true to size) for a "D" width, the workmanship is outstanding, the break-in period is short, the durability is first-rate. I highly recommend the White Ledge line. The waterproofing works for me as I do NOT stay in standing water. Lighter than some other manufacturers' versions but I would try them for anything.

I needed a pair of hiking boots to replace the Keene boots that were only 1 1/2 yrs old but not only lost their waterproofing in the first six months but had a weed stalk in the field go right through the side and almost break my skin. This was the second pair of Keene’s that had gone bad in just over a year and, at $130 I was getting tired of replacing them. Started looking at reviews and found these. They have a large toe box with plenty of room. Before I took them out I took another reviewers advice and put a coating of Mink Oil on them. They were comfortable but I knew they’d take a little break in. I now have about three or four miles of walking through the fields and surprisingly they seem to be breaking in rather quickly. I usually put on about 500-700 miles a year. One note, if you’re looking for hiking boots that will give you really good ankle support these ARE NOT for you, look elsewhere. These are for easy hiking, fields and roadway. When I got them I first put in a pair of Dr. Scholls and that went a long way toward making them immediately comfortable. If I remember I’ll give an update in three or four months. UPDATE: Jan. 6, 2018 - I’ve now had a chance to wear these for a while including the recent snow storm and frigid temps (at least for us). We got 5” of snow, temps this morning, when I took the dog out, we’re 4 or 5 degrees with a windchill of -8. I had been wearing wool socks with these and my feet have stayed warm and dry on a 25 to 35 min. walk through the fields. This time, with the snow and frigid windchill I decided to try just summer cotton socks. Bear in mind I’m a 70 year old with diabetes, which does affect circulation, so I’m pretty sensitive to cold and heat and the comfort of my foot wear. (I walk approximately 3 miles a day with my dog, even in the snow and cold unless it’s too much for her.) So, the results of a 20 minute walk were still warm and dry feet. I could have gone much further but Harley was getting snow turning to ice between her toes every few minutes and we’d have to stop and I’d have to remove it. Bottom line: When I received these boots I put in my Dr. Scholls insoles from my previous pair, rubbed in three coats of mink oil on dry days (which I think was key to waterproofing) and started walking. I’ve found them to be far more comfortable than the Keen’s I was previously wearing. I don’t walk as much as a lot of people, about 25 miles a week, but they’re doing well for me for field and neighborhood walking. 2/9/18: I like to keep folks updated on important stuff: If you want a pair of boots to wear, every day, and forget when you take them off, look elsewhere. Because these are leather they require a LOT of care. If they get soaking wet do NOT continue to wear them the next day, you’ll ruin them. I’ve found that when mine get soaked from walking in the pouring rain, in the field with my dog, I wipe them clean with an old towel, put shoe trees in them to keep the leather from shrinking and set them aside where there’s a flow of air to let them air dry. Do not try and force dry them with hot air, you’ll ruin the leather. Putting them a few feet away from a fan seems to work okay or just let them sit. While they’re drying I use an old pair that I kept. After they have dried completely I retreat every inch of leather, paying particular attention to seams and around grommets, with mink oil, let it sit and dry then retreat again. Is the above a pain? Yes it is but these appear to be quality boots and you need to take care of them, not let them get muddy and wet and toss them in the corner for the next day. Update: 11/12/18 I’ve now had these boots a year and for the money they were a good buy but I’ll repeat a couple of points I made previously. 1. They are not, in any way, shape or form waterproof. 2. If you get them soaked do NOT simply take them off and leave them in a dark hallway. If you do they’ll be ruined. Put them on a towel in front of a fan blowing room temperature air on them. Do not, under any circumstances, place them on a heated surface or someplace where hot air blows on them, you’ll ruin the leather. 3. Once completely dry polish your boots. This is how I do it: I put a match to the polish (in the can) and let it flame and liquify, then take a rag and dip it into the liquid polish and rub it into the leather. Then I take a clean cloth and further rub the polish in and finally use a brush to buff the polish to a shine. Yes, it takes time and effort but if you wear leather hiking boots and walk through wet fields you should take the time to take care of the leather. In wet weather I don’t wear these two days in a row. If you’re looking for that type of boot you’re also looking at three times the price.

looks great, sizing was just a tad small but acceptable with looser lacing.

I ordered the light or brown color, And get the dark brown one. Even if you tried this on the app you will find a different picture for the color you want

Feels good around the foot. Materials seem fine as well. The only issue is the thickness of the shoelaces, which is too thick and makes the shoes untie all the time.
