Great customer service & very good little recorder
I first bought this item in January based on the good feedback scores and after a good start, the display ceased to work, and although it still recorded, it was a struggle to make it function. As I'd been using the recorder to tape meetings for minutes etc for some weeks, I decided I couldn't be bothered to return it because of the low price and I posted a negative review.I was then contacted by the seller by email, apologising for a defective item, and offering a free replacement, which turned up at work two days later! I call that excellent customer service! The display on the replacement is now very clear and the recorder functions perfectly. Recordings can either be played back through the device or downloaded to PC (using the supplied cable, which also charges the device), which is my preferred workflow. The instructions in the accompanying leaflet are rather difficult to follow (poor translation), but for my purposes it is isn't hard to work out how to set the time and date and so on.It's worth mentioning that the recorder comes with an external microphone (it also has built in right and left mikes), adapter to record from the phone (haven't needed this yet), charge/ transfer USB cable, and earphone. It can also be used as an MP3 player apparently. It weighs almost nothing, is absolutely tiny and nicely finished for such a low-cost item. It's great for recording meetings as it can be switched on and left in the middle of the table, will record away and people forget it's there. The 8Gb memory clearly has space for several hours of recording, so would probably be good for taping lectures or presentations for later use. I have it on the middle quality setting and speech is crystal clear, picking up everyone in an eight-person board meeting with no difficulty at all. From a decided "don't bother" I would now recommend this little recorder, and commend the seller for their excellent and proactive customer service. In the unlikely event you get a duff item, I feel you could contact them for help with confidence.

I'm not one to write a lot of reviews even though I love reading them before I decide what to buy because ...
I must confess, I'm not one to write a lot of reviews even though I love reading them before I decide what to buy because usually they are very useful.Well, in this case I need to write something because I am quite disappointed with this product at the moment. I wasn't expecting too much even though the reviews were mostly good, but this little piece was enough for me for the time being as I am only starting out with filming my own shorts and all I needed was a recorder for my external mic.I tested it after it arrived, and it all looked great and easy, and I was impressed with the little clip-on mic and that you can even record telephone conversations with this extra adapter thing. And the sound as far as I could hear on the recorder's integrated speaker the sound was okay when just testing it.That was a week ago from today. And today, I wanted to test the sound with the clip-on mic because I haven't done so far. All was fine, everything was working. When I turned the recorder off and on again just a couple minutes later: the screen - or rather the words didn't show up on the screen anymore. The background light was still working somehow, and it even recorded when I pressed the record button, but what good is that when I don't even see what I am doing (see attached photos below). I tried to turn it on and off again but nothing. Then I left it off for a few minutes and tried it again just because, and there was the "welcome" again. I tried it again a couple times and the screen was blank and then some minutes later there again. (The battery icon btw showed still fully charged.)I then tried to connect it to my laptop in order to access the files on the recorder.(I don't know if it says so in the tiny manual that's in the box but it seems like the device needs to be turned OFF in order for the recorder to be recognised by the laptop.)As I am shooting a short film in a couple of days, this had me panicked for a moment and from now on I'm staying more alert and see if this screen issue continues. Because then I might as well send this little thing back and purchase some other recorder as that is more than inconvenient and annoying for me, let alone frustrating if it happened during filming.I'll see how it goes for the next few days as it is too late to get something else in that short time now. So, fingers crossed!

Like a Gem this is small in so many good ways.
I like this device. I wanted an easily portable unit that wouldn't take up space or add weight when I fly and this certainly ticks every box. Weighing in at just 1.2 ounces.(35g) and 3,25 by 1.25 by 0.5 inches this really is small yet the quality of recording / playback and simplicity of operation this is a winner.Small is the theme here, as the price (around £14) it proves that you don't need to pay £50 or more to get something which is perfectly serviceable - and it includes more cables, adapters, earphones and microphone than most of us will actually need (good to have them just in case) and arrives in simple packaging this is a generic un-badged product that holds its own.One small downside is the instruction leaflet. It's type is incredibly small so you have 2 options. Find an instructional video on U-Tube (other web based information sources are available) OR buy a magnifying glass - certainly for the instructions but some of us may appreciate it for the LED screen. The downsides are solvable - the value and quality is hard to beat so on balance it's something I can recommend.
