CELESTION Eight 15 8 Ohm Guitar Speaker (T5813)

I wasn’t really expecting a huge improvement for $40 but any improvement counts. Bought this (8” 8ohm) to replace the stock speaker in the Fender Champion 20 I bought used but in mint condition. It actually sounded pretty good clean, but the speaker was quitting with a sound that can only be described as audio diarrhea by the time volume and gain got to about 3 and it was fully checked out by 4. When I opened the box and compared the new to the original, they looked very similar, but there were differences. In the original, the magnet is about the same diameter but a little shorter, but the adhesive in the cone was the biggest visual difference. The original speaker has adhesive covering the outer inch or so and about a quarter inch around that inner piece of the cone. It’s very neatly done in both, but I’d think it’s quicker to break in just the paper cone than it is the cone soaked in adhesive. Anywho, swapped it in in about five minutes. If you’re replacing the speaker in a Fender Champion 20, you’ll need to replace the spade connector on the negative terminal - it’s a different/smaller size from the positive and from both on the Celestion. Alternatively, for a short term fix, you can use the shrink wrap on the small connector to hold the back side of the connector tight against speakers connector while you wait for the right part to come in from Amazon. 😁 And then I plugged in. I’m not good. But not counting the time the guy at the guitar shop sat me in front of a Princeton and then a Deluxe with a $300 distortion pedal, it was the best sound I’ve ever made with a guitar/amp. It was shocking. Turns out I had left the Blues Driver on, which had previously been unusable with the old speaker. It was epic though. Couldn’t stop playing. Every setting combination sounded better than it had previously. The built in reverb was audible. The wah on the dial didn’t get lost in the flubbering squirting sound because there was no diarrhea happening. I pushed the gain to Max once I turned off the Blues Driver, and the circuit was clipping but the speaker had no issues and it still sounded pretty good. Certainly much much better. I only took the volume to 4 or so while the gain was maxed, because it’s kind of late, all I really needed, and I didn’t want to push the full 20 watts into the 15 watt speaker on day one. Overall a great improvement for an inexpensive amp that really seems to want to be great. Amazing what free overnight shipping, 5 minutes, and $40 can do. Cheers!

I installed this into a Fender Frontman 15. The factory speaker doesn't produce lows very well, and when the drive channel is selected with gain it breaks up pretty bad from the factory. I installed the Celestion 8-15 in it's place, and holy cow what a difference. I haven't gotten to really see how it sounds at volume yet, but I had not changed anything on the amp or my guitar to begin with, and I had to turn everything down further due to kids being asleep. This speaker is louder than the factory, significantly richer tone, this is a great speaker for the price! Fits perfectly on the same 4 bolts, the factory speaker did. Even though the magnet is at least twice the size on the factory speaker, the amp has not gained any weight, I didn't put this speaker on a scale, but I didn't notice any serious weight difference between the 2. The poles are clearly labeled on the speaker making getting the wires where they need to go easy. This sounds amazing compared to the factory speaker, it's not even in the same ball park the difference this made in the amp, very happy customer.

Very bright but I’m still breaking it in.

Five stars for being an 8-inch guitar speaker of standard manufacture. A definite improvement over a stock speaker in a couple of amps, and it now lives in a Supro Delta King 8, where it replaced a horribly dark stock speaker and brightened things up while but never getting ice-picky. Nice, full-range tone with an overall British flavor (flavour?). I wouldn't hesitate to throw a mic up and record with this - it's more than equipped for the "small-amp-sounds-bigger-on-tape" thing.

I was so excited when I received my Celestion speaker. Opening my Orange PPC108 cabinet was a little tricky, and the hardest part of the swapping process. Removing the old speaker and installing the new one was supereasy. The look of the original speaker (voice of the people) was similar to my surprise, but the weight of celestion one and the size of the magnet was significantly higger on the Eight 15. Soundwise, the celestion speaker is cleaner (when playing clean), with stronger bass and in general sounds better. I have also played with distortion, and it also sounds superb. I strongly recommend this upgrade to anyone with a orange 8inch cabinet, or in general anyone with a 8inch speaker amp.

I've owned a 15 Watt Crate Taxi guitar amp for four years. I have always loved the portability, the dual inputs [mic & guitar], and the play-anywhere battery power. I accepted the tone as a reasonable trade-off for the other desirable features. Then I stumbled across this Celestion speaker and decided to give it a try. It transformed the Crate amp. Added beef and roundness to the bottom end, and clarity to the mids and highs. Could not be more pleased. Interesting side note. The OEM speaker in the Crate was a 4 ohm speaker; the Celestion replacement is an 8 ohm speaker. In theory, there should have been a noticeable drop in volume. I'm not sure if the Celestion is simply more efficient, but without another Taxi amp to do a side-by-side comparison, I can't detect any loss of volume. At any given wattage, Crate amps often punch above their weight when it comes to volume, so it may be that there is some loss, and I'm not really noticing that I'm cranking up the volume knob a bit more. Suffice it to say, there's volume to spare, even playing outdoors. Thanks to all the other reviewers, most of whom were pleased with this speaker. I'm happy to add my two cents, and hope it reassures other people who might be considering it as a replacement for an OEM speaker.

If like me you own a Fender Frontman Amp 15r put this beast in. That crackly old piece of you know what. Doesn’t compare to this. This speaker is easily swapped no soldering or wiring needed just a straight swap out. This speaker is so on point and responses well to any set up. If you have the 15r honestly do it.

I wanted a small practice amp with a similar sound to my EVH 50w 1x12 5150, so i used this speaker in a little custom built 8" cab running a Hotone Vulcan Five-O 5w amp, and it sounds far better than i was expecting, and is able to give the great crisp sounding highs and mids that I love about my EVH, but still has a decent amount of low end, and is plenty loud enough to use at home.
