Great Rechargeable battery for the price
With kids in the house, we’re constantly dealing with a battery shortage. From toys to gadgets, it feels like the batteries always run out at the most inconvenient times, especially when the kids find a new favorite toy that eats up batteries quickly. I decided to try rechargeable batteries, and so far, it’s been a fantastic solution. Here’s a detailed review based on our experience: 1. Eliminates the Constant Need for New Batteries One of the biggest advantages of switching to rechargeable batteries is that we no longer have to deal with the endless cycle of buying new batteries every time something dies. With kids constantly playing with battery-powered toys, it felt like we were going through packs of AA and AAA batteries weekly. These rechargeable batteries have put an end to that. Instead of running to the store every time a toy runs out of juice, we just recharge these batteries, and they’re good to go again. 2. Quick Charging Time Another thing I really appreciate about these rechargeable batteries is how quickly they charge. We’ve all been in situations where we need batteries for something urgently, and with some older rechargeable options, charging could take hours. These batteries, however, charge in a reasonable amount of time. Within an hour or two, we have fresh batteries ready to use, which is especially helpful when the kids are eager to get back to playing with their favorite toys. 3. Environmentally Friendly It feels good to be reducing our environmental impact. Instead of throwing away single-use batteries every time they run out, these rechargeable batteries can be used over and over again. It’s a small change, but it makes a difference in cutting down on waste. We’ve definitely noticed a reduction in the number of battery packs we need to dispose of, which is a win for both our household and the environment. 4. Cost-Effective in the Long Run While rechargeable batteries might have a slightly higher upfront cost, they end up being far more cost-effective in the long run. Rather than constantly buying new disposable batteries, we’ve invested in a set of rechargeable batteries and a charging station, and that’s all we need. Over time, this has saved us quite a bit of money. The ability to just pop the batteries into the charger rather than buying new ones all the time makes a big difference, especially with kids who go through batteries so quickly. 5. Durability and Reliability Since switching to rechargeable batteries, we haven’t had any reliability issues. The batteries hold a charge well, and they work just as effectively as regular disposable ones. They have great longevity, lasting through multiple play sessions without any noticeable drop in performance. Whether it’s powering up toys, remotes, or other devices, these batteries consistently deliver. Final Thoughts If you have kids and constantly find yourself scrambling for batteries, rechargeable batteries are a total game changer. They save money, reduce waste, and offer a reliable power source that charges quickly and lasts. No more running to the store for last-minute battery purchases or dealing with piles of dead batteries. With these rechargeable batteries, we’ve found a solution that works for our busy household, and I couldn’t be happier. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a more sustainable and cost-effective battery solution.

Decent battery
Update: I am adding an update and now giving it a full 5 stars (up from 3). I had originally been concerned about having to charge them so often. I wasn't sure if it was the batteries or what I was using them in, since I got them for motion sensitive lights. Customer service contacted me right away wanting to make sure I was happy with the product and see if they could help with my issue. Since I have gotten such great customer service, I am giving them 5 stars and going to try to use them with lights in a less high traffic area. I like them because they are rechargeable, but it seems like I am always having to charge them. Maybe they are not lasting as long because I have them in the kitchen where they are coming on a lot. They work great and I love the extra light. Easy to charge and use.

Environment friendly economic choice
Initially i just gave rating as I wanted to use it for few months before writing anything. The batteries have been a good choice or would say rather good decision and environmental, economical friendly option. In past i have only used single use disposable batteries so my comparison is to those however it should be seen as a separate product category. The batteries last better than disposable ones in each cycle and don’t leave any residue behind. Disposable ones usually get sticky slimy textured in heavy humidity environments. NiMh batteries don’t have that problem. Despite having 1.2V with similar disposable ones these give stable output which makes difference in products on radio frequency such as walky-takies in ensuring stable frequencies with minimal interference. The product is extremely good for heavy power case scenarios like toys, products with LEDs, gamepads, keyboards etc. Use for a few weeks and then recharge, reuse, repeat. It gives its money back like 4-5 cycles and then continue to enjoy for few more years. Although product manual says that product might get heated during recharging but I didn’t feel any major change in temperature.

Initial tests for backpacking were great. Time will tell for overall longevity.
Modern backpackers have to not only manage their physical energy budget, but their device energy budget as well, and every ounce counts. Your phone, headlamp, earbuds, perhaps dedicated GPS device, etc. all eat up power. For a weekend trip, that isn't a big deal. Just manage your power consumption, maybe carry a small power pack, and you can always recharge everything on the trip home. But for long-term trips, it isn't practical to carry lots of spare batteries, but the risks from having batteries fail in critical applications like light and navigation can be unacceptably high without them. This is compounded by the fact that I enjoy hiking into the evening, partly because it is cooler in the summer, and partly because the days are so short in the winter. I had used NiMH batteries for a while many years ago, but the high self-discharge rate (1-3% per DAY) and a few weak batteries bit me too often, so I finally went back to alkaline batteries and carrying enough spares. However, I still had excellent NiMH chargers that weren't being used and the new low self-discharge technology was intriguing and seemed to have matured to the point that multiple manufacturers could offer it at decent prices. After buying an eight-pack of the PowerOwl batteries, I wanted to make a less-subjective comparison among my three options - AAA generic alkaline, name-brand alkaline, and PowerOwl NiMH. To measure discharge rate, I used my backpacking headlamp. It is a Coast FL75 running at medium intensity white light and maximum beam dispersal. I hung the lamp 44" from the floor and measured the brightness at floor level using a lux meter app on my phone. This is a fairly harsh test of battery life, but I'm assuming night hiking where I would use those settings for the best balance of battery life and trail visibility. As the graph shows, the generic alkaline battery fared the worst, with only about .5 hour of hiking time and only slightly more usable time. The Duracell provided about .8 hour of hiking time and another 10-15 minutes of usable time. The PowerOwl (after initial full charge) was by far the brightest for the longest time, with almost 1.5 hours of hiking time, and another 10-15 minutes of usable time. When the fact that NiMH batteries do best after a few discharge/charge cycles is factored in, I might be able to get up to two hours of night hiking time with the PowerOwl batteries, which is a major improvement. Obviously, I haven't been able to see how well these do after sitting charged for months, how many charge-discharge cycles they have before their capacity drops too much, or even how the batteries hold up over the years, but for now, this is my go-to solution for backpacking batteries. I'm supplementing the batteries with a very small/light USB-powered NiMH charger I can combine with my tiny USB charger so I can get everything recharged at a hostel or hotel overnight between back-to-back trail section-hikes. With the low-discharge rate, I'll buy and test the AA batteries in computer pointing devices and such. It'll be good to go back to a less wasteful solution for portable power needs.

What a waste it was.
So I have 4 kids a wife, a bunch of pets, a couple girlfriends, (dont tell the wife). Anyway, we used to go thru batteries like it was candy and cake, meaning a lot of batteries. So many batteries I would regularly fill one gallon ziplock bags with used ones. I didnt want them in the regular trash and brought them to our recycling center. Well, I would take approximately 1-2 bags a month. They were heavy and almoast always broke open on the ride over. And they took up a good chunk of cabinet space, and we need all the space we can get. So now that I have rechargeables all that is no more. No saving, no carrying, no more buying, no more girlfriends cuz my wife found out! So no more of so many things I never realized how much it was costing in money, time and space, (girlfriends are costly let me tell you). It truely is life changing. And the switch over was easy. So, instead of buying batteries for the month, I started buying rechargeables and little by little the battery powered devices started all having rechargeables. Now instead of tossing them I put them on the 16 space charger and when done they get put into a charged battery bucket. Everyone gets fresh batteries from there whenever needed. It is so satisfying to not have to spend all that money. Now it took about 6 months to get everything switched over because I didnt want to spend anymore than I was already spending on batteries so it took longer for us to get where we are today and that is 100% rechargeables. And they last just as long, work just as well , and cost zero each month. Now, I expect to spend a few bucks in another year or so to replace any that start to fail, but thats an enormous savings compared to the old way, and it didnt hurt one bit making the switch. So I cant say enough good about rechargeables and Im not allowed to mention the girlfriends anymore, but now that the batteries arent an issue and I dont have to deal with all those things those old batteries required my wife is much happier. And Im happier too about the batteries not so happy about the lost girlfriends but you cant have everything now can you?

Good value but doesn't hold a charge
High capacity but it doesn't hold a charge so you need to top them up before you store them away.

Excellent for a while, but live less than 4 years
These batteries performed very well for roughly 2-1/2 years, slightly outperforming rechargeables from Energizer and clearly outperforming those from EBL in AM and FM radios that ran at least half a day every day. Now, 3-1/2 years after purchase, four of them self-discharge rapidly and even right after a full charge run out of juice in my Waterpik after less than 5 minutes. So, you have to calculate that when you buy them. You'll be very happy with them for a while for sure. I wanted them to be a long-term solution to reduce my battery consumption, but they really aren't long-enough term for me.
