I'm a a fan
I've read 9/10ths of her books and enjoy almost every one. I didn't particularly like the main character in this book but either the author or story (maybe both) made me want to read it all. I was surprised by the ending. A good trip read.

The Little One is a BIG read!!!
This was such a good storyline, though at first I wasn't sure. Barbara I thought was such a loser, wimp. But I was surprisingly rivetted, and unusually the book ended on a happy note, for a ghost story!

The Little One by Lynda La Plante
I always enjoy reading Lynda La Plante's books, although this is the first time I have read one of her short stories and although I enjoyed reading the above mentioned book, I do prefer the longer story books.

The LIttle One
Hope we will see more short stories like this one from Lynda la Plante. It makes you wonder what will happen next, an unfinished tale.

The Little One
Great book, thoroughly enjoyed it but ends to abruptly at the end, which is disappointing! Otherwise love Lynda La Plante writting skills, nice and easy to read.

Brilliant read, keeps you thinking -wanting more, for better or worse the main character found someone who needed her !!!!

A sad tale
I love Lynda La Plante, everything she has ever written, but this I found to be slightly boring, and predictable. You just knew what was going to happen. Being a short book there seemed no time to develop her characters which I have always found that the ways she enables you to adhere to them is one of her best features. In all, it was worth a read but not one I'd particularly recommend.

THE LITTLE ONE
Barbara Hardy is a Journalist in desperate need of a good story, and as chance would have it she meets Margaret Reynolds an ex soap star and a good subject for Barbara. She manages to trick her way into staying with the actress in her home in the hope that she can seize the opportunity to attain a much needed article to further her career. It does not take long for Barbara to realise that she is spending time with a woman who not only carries a great burden, but also appears to be living in an old house where strange nightly occurences are taking place. I enjoyed this short book, it was a very entertaining read.

What a surprise ending
I loved this short story. And what a shock at the end. Very different to what I expected. Lovely quick read. Mystery and intrigue all through. I recommend it.

Easy read but disapppointing
If I hadn't known this was written by Linda La Plante I would have thought it was penned by a less successful author. The story was okay, a bit like a longer version of a short story from a women's magazine. But the main character drove me mad, one minute she's cunning and the next she's very naive, and who signs a load of legal documents without reading them properly. I can understand the main character, Barbara, not having any friends or anywhere to live, her selfishness would have driven me mad as well.

An excellent read
This is a very interesting book, as usual with the author one or two twists to the story. Great value and I thoroughly enjoyed the plot
