How much truth is there in a superstition? With her spaniel mix, Plucky, she is immediately embroiled in the town's life when she finds the owner of Lucky Dog lying unconscious in her shop.Believing that lack anywhere dogs are lucky, the townspeople are welcoming. But, when she discovers the body of a neighboring shop owner, she's not sure she agrees.Rory and Plucky have numerous adventures in. very short time. This book was fun to read and there's lot s of fun information about superstitions. A good book for when you just need to feel good. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Another winner for Linda O. Johnston! *by K***R on Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on December 31, 2014* I decided to take a look at this new series because I love Linda`s pet sitter series as well as her pet rescue series. I am glad I did! Linda`s love for dogs shines through in this book as it does in her other two series. I love dogs as much as Linda does, so I am naturally drawn to her books.Getting to the story here, Rory works for a pet mega store in L.A., but following the death of her fiancé after walking under a ladder she is struggling with the idea of superstitions--are they true? So off she goes with her dog Pluckie to Destiny, California, the superstition capital of the world, to learn more about the truth or fallacy of superstitions. She needs to find closure for the loss of her fiancé.Her first day in Destiny she made plans to visit the Broken Mirror Bookstore hoping to meet the author of the ultimate book about superstitions, since he is a co-owner of the store. Pluckie has a different idea though, since she senses something is wrong at The Lucky Dog Boutique next door. She pulls Rory inside the dog boutique and into the back room where Martha, the proprietor, lies on the floor in distress. Rory calls 911 and later learns she has had a mild heart attack. Pluckie and Rory are heroes in the town of Destiny because Martha is loved by most of the citizens.Because of Rory's experience as the assistant manager of a mega pet store, she has been asked to manage the Lucky Dog Boutique. Later there is a murder and Martha is the main suspect. Rory sets out to prove Martha`s innocence and she becomes the target of the killer who wants Martha to take the blame for the murder.This book is well written, as all other books by this author are. Anyone who likes a clean, cozy mystery with a touch of romance will like this book. Dog lovers especially will enjoy it as the main character shows the love and passion for her dog as ALL we dog lovers do. ### ⭐⭐ disappointing *by L***N on Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on March 11, 2015* Have read other Linda Johnston books and found this one silly, tedious and repetitive. There are numerous continuity problems too: at one point the main character leaves an office walking her dog, reads a pivotal newspaper article while her dog pees, then walks back to work and greets her same dog who she apparently left at work...huh?
