This futon is actually nicer than I expected. The frame is very sturdy and the color is nice and evenly applied. It took a few hours to put together but the instructions were easy to follow. All of the pieces and parts were there with nothing left over.I got the queen size, and it comes with some extra stabilizers for the back part of the futon when it is converted into a bed. I thought this was a nice addition. This is the first queen-size futon that I’ve had and I am not sure I expected it to be quite so long against the wall, but I guess that’s a better place for the size than to make the seat and back deeper.The mattress seems comfortable so far. I will say that the khaki color that is shown on the website is not what I got. I checked it on several monitors and the actual color is much lighter but for me, it won’t matter as I will have it covered most of the time. As you can see from my photos, I have a dog and a few cats that are going to enjoy this while I am working in my home office.I know that some mentioned an odor coming from the mattress, but honestly to me, it smells like new fabric. I’m sure it will dissipate with time and it’s not that bad to begin with. There are a few loose threads around the zipper area of the mattress but they can be easily snipped off.For what it’s worth, I would suggest getting a ratcheting screwdriver that handles the hex screws. That works so much faster than the small little hex wrench that they give you.

Honestly, when I received the product in different shipments I was nervous. I didn't know what to expect. Laying all of the pieces out made it look like an overwhelming project. But once you go through the step by step instructions you can see the fruits of your labor take shape.Building the frame was super easy and the wood is excellent quality. I only had one issue during the assembly and that was with attaching the upper half to the lower half. I don't feel the instructions were very clear on that process. I had installed the screw hole covers before joining those two pieces and I had to pry those covers off in order to loosen the lower frame screws. This way, both halves could be joined. Removing the screw hole covers made me scratch the wood a little, but it wasn't all too bad.Apart from the small issue with assembly, the futon is very comfortable to lay on. I had some family stay a couple of nights and they mentioned how comfortable it was. They didn't want to get out of bed in the morning! I love this futon and I'm extremely pleased with the end result. One additional thing I would say is that the mattress doesn't smell very good whenever you receive it. It smells a bit like a barn. However, once you air it out for a few days the smell WILL go away. So no need to worry about that.Great product and I would recommend this to anyone!

Great futon, would have been easier to assemble if I had a second person to help. The instruction are simple and all parts are color coded. The final step is the difficulty, you have to insert the bed frame into the bottom part with the sides. Not too difficult for two people to do. The funny smell everyone is reporting is Permethrin. It's a harmless pesticide that I use on my dogs all the time. It's a added bonus as far as I'm concerned and the smell is not that strong or annoying.

The manufacturer of the mattress stated the smell happen sometimes, and they have tried to work on it. It does not happen to every mattress. They are very willing to work with the customer to fix the issue.The frame is sturdy and wasn't too bad to put together.

If I'm reviewing the futon only, I give it 4 stars. It's a very nice, sturdy, solid wood frame, it was very easy to assemble, and the mattress is nice and thick and sturdy. For the price, it's a great futon. I have not yet slept on it, we bought it for guests, but I have sat on it couch-style and it's comfy.Now, if I'm reviewing the actual process of getting the futon and dealing with customer service, I'm going to have to give that 2 stars. I ordered a queen size futon. It shipped quickly. I had the frame within 10 days of order. The frame comes in 2 parts, the legs and the body. There is no tracking provided for the mattress. It comes from a different location and is not included in the packages that are contained in your order listed on Amazon. I contacted the seller about mattress tracking and received an immediate response with tracking info. A+ there. Well, then I decided to put the frame together in preparation for the mattress arrival 3 days later. When I took a closer look at the frame body box (the big, long, heavy frame body box) it had the word "FULL" in big bold print on the side. Um, I ordered a QUEEN. Another email to the seller to confirm they screwed up and sent me the wrong size, and they confirmed, in fact, they did. Sending me new QUEEN frame body post hastily. In the meantime, no return pickup instructions for the FULL frame body sitting in my garage. Back to that later. While waiting for the QUEEN body to arrive, the mattress finally arrives. I decide to pull it out of its rolled up tube and let it air out and unwrinkle. Only, I notice at least 3 large rips in the cover before I even get it out of the shrink wrap. Not wanting to man-handle that back into the box without the shrink wrap, I contact the seller yet again. They initially only want to replace the cover only, but I want a whole new mattress. They send out a whole new mattress. No tracking or other info or a timeframe. So, now I have a mistaken FULL size futon frame and a defective QUEEN size mattress taking up space in my garage. Back to that later. I finally get the QUEEN size frame and immediately open the box and inspect the pieces. Everything looks great! Phew! No scratches or rubs or mars to the wood finish. It was packaged very well. One small dowel on one end was broke, but we had a bunch of dowels from other stuff, so we replaced it easily. We get the frame assembled in a little over an hour, the instructions are easy to follow, well, with a little turning of the pages to find the right directions for everything. The new mattress finally arrived and yippee, no rips or tears. For fun, I unzipped the cover to see what was inside and found just foam and fluff. Not sure how they thought I'd be able to replace a ripped cover only on the first mattress when the stuffing inside is not covered. Anyway, after about a month from order date, I have a complete QUEEN size futon with a solid wood frame and nice size mattress for guests. It's great. But it took a month to get it all right...and a bunch of emails to the seller. Oh, and remember the FULL size futon frame and QUEEN size defective mattress? Yeah, here's where I would give the seller negative stars if I could. They didn't want either back. They left me to deal with the hassle of getting rid of their mistakes. Their incredibly heavy mistakes! I donated the Queen size mattress to a local charity who were forever grateful. I was forever grateful for the two big guys that got it out of my car. The frame....the brand new, solid wood, unopened full size frame body....is in my car on its way to my local dump. Their warehouse didn't want either item back. I have no use for a full size futon frame with no legs or mattress and I sure as heck don't want to store it for eternity in my garage, so, to the dump it goes. What. A. Waste.

Looks great and seems to be pretty solid piece of furniture

I love my new red futon and the wood trim is very beautiful. However instead of buttons on the mattress piece there’s are a lot of white stitches where buttons wouldBe if it was a tufted mattress abd that stitching stitching doesn’t go with the red fabric.
