Great value MP3 for children or adults
I bought this for my 7 year old, so I wanted something inexpensive but robust and easy to use. I haven't been disappointed, as this is a great little player. It feels solid and has minimal buttons to break, and a smooth surface which does show fingerprints but doesn't scratch easily. The supplied ear buds are good quality and have a range of sizes of ear piece including one suitable for small ears. However as my daughter had over-ear headphones for Christmas she hasn't used them much. The menus and controls are easy to use even for a 7 year old and she worked it out herself very quickly. We have only used it for music, so can't comment on other functions, but the screen would be too small for e-books I would say. The display is clear and bright.I have been particularly impressed with the sound quality, which is excellent even through cheap headphones! It also works brilliantly with our bluetooth speaker (once I read the instructions!). It is very easy to add music files from a laptop direct from file manager with no awkward software, although it did take a couple of goes to get my laptop to find the player once plugged in.The player has been used every day for two weeks now and we are really pleased with it. It holds it's charge very well, and is also big enough not to get lost or trodden on easily. A really good inexpensive MP3 which I would recommend.

No Bluetooth streaming.
Much smaller than I was prepared for, and all rather plastic. The unit is barely deep enough to take a stereo jack and the micro USB port is also fragile. All was working as expected, touchpad a little temperamental but easy enough to pair with Bluetooth speaker. However, the music data as shown playing did not stream through to the speaker as it should. Checked volume settings, file folder nesting, data types (the only advice on this point on manufacturer website) and all signs of incorrect pairing or connection to no avail. Many attempts made but only a hardwired setup would operate, not the Bluetooth which is after all what you're paying for. And yes, I did try turning it off and on again. Refund through Amazon.

Small but beautifully formed
First off, the nice packaging consisting of a well designed card double fold out container reminiscent of a chunky cd digipak. This makes it so much easier to open than traditional boxes which can be fiddly. Once opened, the mp3 player, usb cord and headphones are housed in their own sections along with the instruction booklet. The headphones are also supplied in their own storage box and with 3 different sizes of ear-cushion which is a nice touch. I downloaded the more comprehensive manual from the Kubik website. The Kubik is a beautifully designed machine, small, gloss black with touch controls illuminated by blue leds which add to the quality look. I charged up the Kubik for the requisite 2.5 hours as specified in the instructions before using the unit. Once charged it states that it will last 20 hours between charges which is great for long journeys. The screen is large enough to read the menus which are logical and easy to navigate. My old mp3 player required you to navigate through various sub-menus which made it a bit tedious so the Kubik made it beautifully simple to find your way around, especially with the touch controls. Loading up the Kubik with music and ebooks was simplicity itself; access the player via your computer as it shows up as a drive named 'Kubik'. The various folders show up as 'ebooks', 'music', etc so all you do is transfer your source files from your computer or cd to the appropriate destination. From the start it worked perfectly with ebooks and music stored in an easily accessible way. The sound through the supplied headphones is more than adequate giving a good clear sound with music and ebooks if a bit on the bright side. Better headphones will always reap benefits but these are probably on a par with others in this price range. As I said at the start, this is a beautifully designed player, but it may need more careful handling than the chunkier types so no throwing down on tables etc. The good-looking Kubik does everything it's supposed to and does it well whilst delivering a more than adequate performance. I haven't used the radio, video etc yet but as an 8Gb media player and with bluetooth it seems a bit of a bargain.
