Great knife, and will be used as intended.
Very high quality knife, and marling spike. I need to reshape the point of the spike, as I don't need a needle sharp point. I'm also going to have to add a lanyard to the knife. Super heavy duty, and sharp as a razor, looks like it'll be the cat's meow on board. Also, the knife sits way down deep in the sheath, where it will be less likely to be lost, or to snag a shroud line, going forward. I like it. It's not a 'Randall Made Knife', but then I didn't pay 500 dollars for it either. Overall, I think it's a tough well made, well designed knife that will probably last the rest of my lifetime. This is a knife designed for sailing, and actual use.

Solid knife for under $100.
Recently purchased this knife set. It came in and it was in good order. The knife is solid and sharp. For the price I paid I think this was a good buy. I have two concerns for this knife on the water. One is that there is no lanyard hole to secure the knife and two the marlin spike arrived sharpened to a point. I ground it down and polished it myself to make a serviceable marlin spike.

Reasonable price for high quality.
I'd never heard of Perkins knives before this purchase. I bought this to test considering my old mariners knife had rusted due to neglect, Perkins didn't disappoint. This knife made short work of several lines, and the marlin spike pushed out kinks with ease. I highly recommend this to anyone into sailing. I will personally be yesting out a few of their other knives in the future.

Good but could be better with a few tweaks / rework.
I really like the style of this blade and the included two sheaths are outstanding quality and work great with the blade. However, the spike sheathing, on both of the sheaths, is just too loose and that sharp point is open to catch on or poke.Given the sharpness of the spike, that could hurt. The marlinspike is way too sharp and has to be reworked.Adding a shackle key slot would have made sense, have to wonder why they didn't. I will be adding that to my list of mods for this set-up.The knife profile I'm still wondering about / testing, it was not sharp out of the box, (cutting thru 3/4 double braid nylon took quite a bit of sawing, other knives have made that cut in two swipes, out of the box).I'm still working on edge sharpness as the blade was not sharp out of the box.The knife, as others have mentioned, could use a lanyard hole, I will have to drill and chamfer one in.So in summary, one ends up with a little bit of a project with this set-up.Still, I do like it and hope I can get an edge profile that works for the thickness profile of the blade.

The worst knife money can buy
This thing is garbage., dull for one, everything about this knife screams Chinese, maybe Indonesian, junk. I can't say where it's from since there is no pride of manufacture and not stamped or notated anywhere on the knife or packaging. The listing said it's stainless but it has no stamping such as "440 stainless " or whatever, like quality knives have. The paperwork hilariously are instructions for caring for "your new Damascus steel" knife (wtf!?)The sheath? Omg, they give you two. Two, utterly useless, smelly, pieces of leather. When I say useless I am not just talking about the quality or nitpicks they cannot be used. The larger one slot seams to be for some sort of cleaver, it's enormous, the knife is not healed in place and it has no strap across the handle to help. Why did they include it!?The second sheath fits the blade part BUT...the strap to go around the handle is too short and doesn't go all around the handle. It's a 1/2" too short to be able to be snapped. ALSO...if you have the marlin spike in the sheath it stops the blade from sliding in all together. You must first remove the spike, sheath, it then force the spike in after it.Oh, and did I mention the weird smell emanating from this rig? While I have never been to a warthogs den I think it probably smells exactly like my hands do from touching this fetid thing. It smells like an animals pen that hasn't been cleaned.Seriously don't buy this piece of crap.
