How did we get our start? In 1956, Barclay Simpson, who originally ran a window screen business, was asked by a neighbor's brother to create a product to connect 2x4s for a roof. Seeing an opportunity to help a customer, Simpson developed the first joist hanger. What makes our products unique? Review: Got the job done. - Great for securing beams Review: Great bracket that hides the ugly - Product does exactly what it is supposed to do. Holds a post in place above a slab and looks nice at the same time. That said, it is not a beginner's best friend. Understand how it works. Take careful measurements. Drill accurately. And: I won't recommend this... But I used a chainsaw for the slot in the post! I am very happy with the results. FYI: I did use a wood saw to put a narrow, well placed, slot in the post before widening it with the more aggressive saw.

Very pleased!
These worked great. There's a little learning curve on drilling the holes, but once you get it........ These allowed the 6"x6"x16' posts to stand up without any bracing while getting the balcony parts lined up.

The best!
This design seems to absolutely minimize water damage potential, as the usual other designs can trap water against the post. Solidly secured into the foundation/footing, 3 pins hold the post in place, and solid construction. It has a great strength feel to it. I purchased the two-pack and the price was a bit better than as if buying two separate one-packs. I am going to use a 6x8 post, so there will be a smidge overhang, but this base will tolerate such dimension.
