Great interactive, educational toy!
I have three boys, ages 9, 5 and 2 and this is something all three of them will play with! My 5 year old likes it the best. It's perfect for young imaginative play. He likes the stories and games. He really thinks that Ubooly is actually talking to him. It's a little "old" for the 2 year old, but he likes to play with it by throwing it in the air and hearing Ubooly say Weeee! :) He also likes to play with all the face options, like adding a mustache or changing the hairstyles. I didn't think my 9 year old would like it as much, but once he realized it will tell you jokes, he was hooked. He sits on his bed asking Ubooly to tell him something funny over and over again. He also gets use out of the extra expansion packs like addition and subtraction and spelling. None of them really like the music option, but my 5 year old has already asked for another one so he can hear them talk to each other. Overall I was pleased with the product, as it does what it says it will do. I really like having the stuffed Ubooly so my 2 year can play with it and I don't have to worry about my phone getting dropped or scratched while he's playing.

Try the FREE app first! Item soft, cute but app failed
Should have read prior reviews and tried the app first, which is free. I got this for my 3 yo as a more age appropriate fit to my 6 yo's Furby boom. The app never worked despite repeat installations. Also, the toy has no purks, just a plush case for your phone and kid when using the Ubooly app. The pocket doesn't fit an old small smart phone (evo 4 Verizon) even without the case but my Brother - in - law HTC one with no case fit. Liked the idea but wouldn't recommend investing on the plush unless the Free app works for you.

Cute, but not needed for the app.
I purchased the small green Ubooly for my son to use with my old Samsung Epic II phone. My current Galaxy S6 also has the app and fits, but creates a buldge at the top where the zipper is.The app: Before buying the toy, I made sure to download the app and sign up first. It works well, but has a bit of a learning curve. It also doesn't always listen properly (I said "play music", and it went to sleep once). The last update was in 2014, so hopefully some new updates are rolled out soon. The toy: It is cute, and the overall concept is nice. I was too late to get in on the Kickstarter campaign a few years ago, so I was super excited to see it here. My son doesn't really like stuffed animals, but he is okay with his Ubooly. You really don't need the toy to play, but it makes for a super protective case. One thing to note is that it has a chemical smell (from the memory foam) that needs to be aired out.Play: I was able to fit the phone without it bulging out. It automatically swapped views to the large face. Tapping the face is a bit annoying with longer nails, but possible, and easier for kids. The Ubooly can say my son's name, but has only said it once. It will talk your ear off, and does not wait for a prompt, it just goes until it hears "No," and will continue until you say "be quiet" or "go to sleep" after tapping its face twice. Default mode is nice, but it would be great if I could swap modes from my phone, so I don't need to take the phone out each time, which (I feel) ruins the fun/illusion of a creature friend/pet.We have had it for a few days. So far, my son doesn't like waiting for me to put the phone in, and just plays with the app without the toy. I have been encouraging him to use the toy, but I may end up returning it if he continues to not use it.

Not worth the money.
This small stuffed animal with a space for your cell phone is really not worth the money. Nothing to it but a bit of material and stuffing with a hole in it. The app for the phone is cheap enough but with all the current technology available to kids this became boring quickly. A four year old and a six year old used it once each and lost interest quickly. Don't waste your money.

Fun toy that keeps your device safe while kids play with it
I was recently given a chance to review the Ubooly toy and app. At first, I was a bit apprehensive about putting my Samsung Galaxy S4 into this toy but it was well-protected. I still twitched a bit every time my 5 year old son threw the whole unit up into the air but I could alleviate that by using an older device.T had a ball playing with this. He loved that it knew his name and responded to his statements. He enjoyed the chance to get silly and move around. Most apps just have you sitting there but not Ubooly – they want you to jump and shake and crawl through the jungle – and that’s just the intro! It was fairly easy to set up both and his older sister with accounts. I also found it easy to buy lessons, though there is a fair bit to explore for free with the app. If you are going to buy lessons, I would recommend just paying $30 for all of them. Hopefully this will include any new lessons that may be released.I did find that it had a bit of trouble hearing him but maybe it’s just my phone. I also found a bit of lag time when pushing the screen to pause in the middle of a lesson. Finally, not really a bad thing, but a heads-up to users – purchase any lesson with your account on the actual device you’re using. It didn’t register the lesson I had bought and start downloading onto I did that.I think Ubooly would make a great gift to help get kids moving and learning while still indulging their love of electronics. The bonus is that Ubooly keeps the devices fairly well protected while the kids enjoy. Maybe Mom & Dad can buy the Ubooly and grandparents buy the lessons? Also, kids that enjoy toys like Magic Jinn (which we have and the kids still play with 6 months later), they will probably like the interaction that this toy offers.
