STRIPLIGHT FITTING 221mm

Absolutely delighted. We have quite old kitchen units but we love them because we can paint them and repaint them and the kitchen looks great. However, last year the under cabinet lighting which we installed about 30 yrs ago, was beginning to break down. When we made enquiries at local hardware stores and well known DIY stores about replacements we were almost laughed at. Oh no, out of date, discontinued etc. that was what we were being told. We were seriously considering replacing the under cabinet lighting with new updated lighting and were worried about the different effect that would have in our kitchen lighting ambience . As a last resort we tried Amazon and to our amazement there they were. Couldn't believe it!! We placed our order, which arrived promptly, and now we are over the moon with our purchase. It goes to show don't believe everything you are told in DIY stores about discontinued lines. Good old Amazon to the rescue. Thank you so much. You have made two old age pensioners very happy.

Makes a decent cupboard light especially when fitted with an LED tube lamp as it has integral switch. Note under the tube is a second safety switch. This is because when fitting the lamp or if no lamp is fitted it could be possible to get a shock from the terminals or the end of the lamp you are fitting. This switch needs to be pressed in by the lamp itself. This seems to be where other reviewers are having problems. I would suggest testing the unit on the table before fitting it. If the lamp doesn't work, disconnect it from the power, take the back off and look at the brass contacts under the safety switch. You can bend them slightly so they both make contact when the lamp is fitted.

To cancel my last review, this fitting arrived the day after I was asked to review. It is a good fitting, used for under unit kitchen work surface lighting, it gives a good spread of light and has a switch to provide controllable mood lighting when the room is not in use. This is the third that I have purchased to replace units fitted three years ago, that have packed up one by one. Well recommended !

Would have been ok but I did not realise you needed a socket nearby to plug it into so have been unable to use.

Excellent piece of kit, the red power on light is great because you can check whether you got that tricky bit of wiring up near the kitchen ceiling right. It's a two core cable, no earth. No 6 screws is the maximum size it will take, I recommend 1 inch, 25mm. Getting the tube in is a bit of a struggle, seems to work better with the new 2.5w LEDs
